One person has been killed and at least one other hurt as two explosions rocked the centre of the Swedish capital, Stockholm, reports say. A car blew up near the busy shopping street of Drottninggatan, and another explosion hit nearby shortly afterwards, AP quoted police as saying. A man's body was discovered after the second blast, the agency reported. Swedish Aftonbladet newspaper showed images of a burning white car. The cause of the blasts is not yet known. Rescue services spokesman Roger Sverndal said the car which exploded had contained gas canisters, AP reported. A former AP worker, Gabriel Gabiro, was close to the second blast. "I saw some people crying, perhaps from the shock," he told the agency. "There was a man lying on the ground with blood coming out in the area of his belly, and with his personal belongings scattered around him."

Malmo is primary site, so it could;ve spread..
A woman is interviewed in the SvD: She was witness to the second explosion, and when she contacted her mother, she had witnessed a car catching fire (the fisrt fire/explosion).
At the site of the second explosion the body of a dead man was found. Next to him a bag was found. According to uncomfirmed reports - but reported by all Swedish news media - the bag was full of nails!
[Sorry, links in Swedish only, "första explosionen" ´means first explosion]
oops..my dumb!!!
“Lutefisk preparation is very dangerous.”
Yeah, you hear about them taking down “Lute Labs” all the time! /humor
Thanks for the update.
Again, still unconfirmed reports, but it appears the police has totally ruled out that the dead man was injured in the first explosion, but are working according to the theory that he somehow managed to blow himself up. (I guess “that photo” will appear on this thread soon.)
Also, the police is said to have used a bomb-robot to X-ray the dead man’s bag (ruck sack according to some sources), and have now removed the object for further analysis.
The dead man has not yet been identified, or at least his identity has not been released. If the news items related above turns out to be true, no big win for guessing the man’s religious affiliation, though.
From aftonbladet:
Confirmed that this is a suicide bombing. 6 bombs and nail backpack. Suspect shouted in arabic before detonation.
Damn, but it has only been a question of when.
This will have huge implications for the political situation in Sweden.
China in retaliation for the Nobel Prize to a political prisoner?
All the other major newspapers have followed on with the same story: Attempted suicide terror attack. (Luckily it appears that only the suicide was succesful!)
So far no comments from our politicians wo otherwise are always so keen to appear in front of a camera. This is going to be v-e-r-y interesting.
Lars Vilks’s Modogs and the Swedish presence in Afghanistan were the stated reasons for killing “your children, sisters, and wives”.
Agreed, but until it’s sorted out, I’ll reserve judgement.

Close one. Fortunately a lot of these jihadi types seem to be completely inept; that’s the only thing that saved Times Square and a number of US flights, and it looks like that’s the only thing that intervened in Stockholm, too.

Just in case anyone thought the person/s involved in the explosions were Sven Svensson or something similar, a commenter on a Net Discussion Forum just mentioned that the car that exploded is registered to:
Taimour Abdulwahab, 28 years old.
Taimour Abdulwahab - a very Swedish name, indeed.
Muslim - I’m going to be looking forward to reading about it tonight on she must not be named’s site. Hey, the ROP strikes again.
Swedish Lutherans did cuz they who you know what never do these things, right?
Figures.
“she who must not be named” - Gov Palin is in Haiti, are you talking about Pamela Geller?
