Jim DeMint assures GOP senators a pass
Politico ^

South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint is privately reassuring his Republican colleagues up for reelection that he won’t recruit or endorse any primary opponent against them, vowing to raise more than $10 million aimed mainly at taking down Democratic incumbents.

In a letter obtained by POLITICO, the tea party favorite appears to be taking steps to soothe post-election tensions with his GOP colleagues, including some who say his political tactics have been counterproductive.

At the same time, however, the South Carolina conservative’s latest move could disappoint some of his most fervent grassroots supporters who are preparing to line up tea-party-backed candidates in states like Indiana, Utah and Maine where Republican senators have become targets of the right wing.

A few months ago the Senate Rinos and their aides told their liberal media co-horts that DeMint and his issues would "be left sitting on the counter, like an old dried up piece of fruit".

The GOP is deader than a doornail..they just don't know it yet.

What would be easier; turning the GOP around, or starting a new party completely from scratch?

DeMint endorsed Lee after his primary win in Utah, same with Miller in Alaska, during this cycle. This isn’t unexpected, or new.

DeMint will have his hands full recruiting and raising money for known opportunities.

I don’t think that at this point he is looking to raise money to oust people like Orin Hatch.

Important to read ALL of the article.... he adds that he will stay out of the primaries...and several will be "primaried."

Let him concentrate on unseating Democrats.

We’ll take care of the RINO hunt. We’re better at it.

Feel free! Anything to promote the cause! I used to use it as a tagline; I also liked Time to flush the Grand Old Potty, but some thought it was too corny and sweeping.

As someone once said, the two political parties are like two bottles of whisky, both labeled as to their contents, and both empty. It's always easier to hijack an existing party than start a new one. That's what the Progressives did to the Democrats. Every plank of the 1920 Socialist Party platform has been enacted by Democrats.

The trick will be to take over the Republican party in the same way the Democrats were taken over. It will take some time, but it can be done. Start at the grass roots. Get yourself on your county Central Committee. Become a precinct captain, or whatever it's called in your state. Help select the State Central Committee. Work on campaigns for candidates you trust. You take over a Party from within by replacing the people who are there now.

As it says in the article, he will be doing the same thing in 2012 as he did in 2010.

You got it. They will turn back to rearranging the deck chairs no doubt. This house of cards is coming down.

It matters not anymore. I have come to the conclusion that we have no choice.

Here is why....the GOP just reflects their voters who put them there. Who are these Republican voters??? Do we have anything in common with them anymore? We surely cannot change voters, they are who they are. And they prefer milktoast men and women who are afraid of the MSM/DNC/Hollywood war room. And simply cannot make a move, statement, or decision without media approval.

Men and women who are frankly chicken-sh*ts, afraid of their shadows, who refuse to discuss the Democrats honestly, to take them on in an aggressive and ruthless manner just does not work in these times.

These traits are detestable and NOT to be admired!

I just do not fit in with my party anymore.

From the article:
DeMint may be freer than most to chart his own political path given that he’s not planning to run for reelection when his second term expires in 2017, saying in an interview this week that “it’s my intention to make this my last term.”
That's 'cause he'll run for POTUS in 2016 (maybe 2012?). He certainly looks Presidential in number 8 above.

Jim DeMint ping!

No. The con is just fine. A return to the con is called for.

exactly,
he can make all the promises he wishes, but that doesn’t mean the PEOPLE have to listen when it comes to the primaries

Exactly! DeMint should stay out of Primaries, and then back the Republican candidate who wins the primary. It is up to all of us to start early, vet the candidates early, and then get behind the best Constitutional Conservative primary candidate EARLY with our $ and “feet on the ground” help!
