“And the current debate is merely a continuation of the one that was shouted down in 2001 when the Bush administration decided they liked big government and gave birth to this evil monstrosity, the HSA.”
Amen brother. Everyone is shouting Obama! Obama! Suckers.

No conservative thinks that having government looking at your genitals to see if you are a terrorist, while ignoring the Muslim women wearing a burka, is a good idea. Perhaps Mz. Saunders, like Gloria Alred, craves some sexual attention, but she certainly is no conservative.

I got in a debate with my Oprah-watching sister about this and she was even fine with body cavity searches. All to FEEL safe, you know. She pointed out that my husband, who has to travel for his job, should just just go along with the rules. And she votes! (For Obama)Does your Oprah-watching sister agree with the Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade? Right to privacy, "it's a woman's body" and all that? ;-)

How is flying in an airplane a ‘privilege’ any more than going to a movie. It is a service that you pay for. Driving a car, OTOH, is a true privilege. You have to take a driving test, pass physical requirements, and obey the law. Yet the policeman or trooper who stops a driver for a violation is under more constraints than an uneducated, minimally trained TSA.

before writing such articles, instead of relying on ‘polls’, Ms. Saunders (and any other author, to be fair) should take her father and mother and children to the nearest airport and ‘opt out’ for the hands-on search. When she sees hands go down the front of her mom’s pants, her children removed from her sight to be groped by strangers, and her father’s artificial leg inspected, perhaps she will change her perspective.

Before you jump to conclusions, Debra J. Saunders is a conservative columnist whose articles frequently receive praise here at Free Republic. Yeah, and Peggy Noonan used to get rave reviews here, too.

Debra Saunders is an idiot. She is “conservative” compared only to Maureen Dowd. But she’s not as good a writer.

Diana Mitford married Sir Oswald Mosley, the leader of the British Union of Fascists.
That would place Mitford on the leftwing/progressive side of the political spectrum.

From your source:
Although viewed by some as a conservative Republican, Saunders consistently opposed the War on Drugs. [2][3] She has also campaigned in her column for President Bush to issue more pardons and sentence commutations and supports same-sex marriage.[4] Saunders voted against Proposition 22 but was critical of the California Supreme Court decision which legalized same-sex marriage.[5]
This is a conservative?
