Depends on the person...if it were Reagan confusing the Koreas, no prob., he was old and EVERYONE had no doubt as to what he thought of the Communists. Others don’t have as much room. It’s not us that will change our vote in Nov. 2012, it’s the people not on this site...that’s who I worry about.

We’ll see if DeMint (or someone equivalent...of which there are few) steps up - and then see if they slip up. If they do, then yea, it becomes a non-discriminator. But if DeMint can keep things straight, he’ll be MUCH TOUGHER to beat than someone (anyone) who slips up once in a while. Like I say, we’re talking Republicans here, we have VERY LITTLE room to slip up (particularly compared to Democrats)...maybe we would like it to be different, but it is not.

Actually what happened was that during the debate Ford simply misspoke and referred to America's role in keeping the people of Eastern Europe free. He clearly meant Western Europe based on everything he'd said up to that point. When Carter went after him, rather than acknowledging his simple error (as Palin did) he made some lame rebuttal about how free they were in Poland and so forth. Ford realized there would be numb-skulls like the people on this thread who'd try to make some huge deal out of a simple slip of the tongue, and went the wrong way with trying to straighten it out.

Sarah Palin didn't.
