AP reports TSA scanners enjoy 2/3 support

Apparently there are more sheeple out there than we think. The latest AP report shows 2/3 Americans support the new TSA scanners. No word yet on the political orientation of the poll respondents but liberals who were out in force protesting the unconstitutionality of the Patriot Act seem to be keeping mum about this far more blatant and intrusive "security procedure", proving once again how that magic "D" after a politician's name works wonders when it comes to stifling dissent. Many Freepers have cited George Orwell in their struggle against the TSA tyranny. But, speaking as a new FR member and someone who was naive enough to believe in 2008 that Obama would repeal the equally unconstitutional Patriot Act, another line from Animal Farm comes to mind "The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again, but already it was impossible to say which was which".

I saw the 60% oppose also, but don’t remember where.

Think they may be using old numbers or poling the politicians.

Although tongue in cheek, not a bad solution to the TSA B.S.:

"The latest AP report shows 2/3 Americans support the new TSA scanners."

And we should believe AP because . . . ?

Also, we should keep in mind that the bulk of the holiday travelers are occasional flyers who have a pressing motive not to delay their holiday sojourn by rocking the boat.

A rather idiotic comment you just posted. We are not talking about Narita, we are talking about the U.S.A., and we are not talking about some time ago, we are dealing with the present, as TSA procedures changed a couple weeks ago. Extended gropes have been documented as lasting 15-20 minutes, including disassembly of prosthetics. Both males and females have had genitals handled. Your experiences overseas and in the past are IRRELEVANT.

I’m wondering if perhaps the airlines didn’t donate enough money to the democrats and now they’re the next target for destruction.

These polls are skewed since the pollsters are asking the general public at large rather than the flying public-—I dare them to stand on the other side of the TSA checkpoints and ask the folks coming through there what they think about it.

frankly when Matt Drudge posted the first leaked body scan of a really hot young woman last spring, I thought 98% of our female population would have rallied against them.

Folks, I’m inclined to agree with you that AP’s numbers are fishy. I just threw this poll out to see if anyone had any theories as to how they cooked up these figures or what the real numbers are.

The answer is pretty simple - unions. The NLRB has made it ok for the TSA agents to unionize. The timing of the scanners and the feel ups were scheduled to create the proper adversarial relationship between the TSA and the public.

The TSA has scaled back it’s random feel ups to speed up the process, they said, but it is really to avoid the complaints.

Dp they poll people who actually fly?

I haven’t had occasion to be on a plane since the mid 60s but I recognize stupidity when I see it.

Back then, you could smoke on board, my how times have changed.

Believe me, after praising Oblunder in 2008 as Our Savior, I’m now eating my words as well as an entire humble pie. Now, in addition to the real Savior, I’ve also managed to offend Lord Voldemort and Emperor Palpatine by comparing them to 0.

Then the sheeple have truly thrown out the US Constitutional protection against unreasonable search and seizure. No probable cause needed, just ‘cause they can for “peace and safety” when there IS NO peace and safety, they are getting neither peace nor safety, that is an illusion.

They are also defiling their bodies by allowing total strangers to gawk and make remarks about (don’t think that’s not happening); they are throwing their children to the wolves of our society to be groped and fondled in many cases by total strangers when they been told time and again that their bodies are sacred and PRIVATE and must not be touched by others (Except during normal childhood rearing and training but why do we have to qualify such remarks?).

These are hard choices we must make, no one said that standing up for what’s right is going to be easy, it never is, I choose not to follow the sheeple.

They would like to make us believe that Americans welcome Big Brother’s police state all in the name of security. Anyone, other than Liberal useful idiots, willing to live in a police state for security?????

Except that the scan is a fake, just a negative photoshop of a nude woman, with some clothing outlines added in.

There has been talk from Pistole about expanding such scanners to courthouses, boats, trains, etc. Even private businesses such as malls have been suggested as places where these degrading things might be placed. Perhaps imbeciles who think, "Well, it won't effect ME" should have this brought to their attention.

This needs to be stopped NOW. These scanners are a violation of the 4th amendment , and they must go-NOW, before they start showing up everywhere.

So it went when Hitler was elected, and then when the Nazis put their security measures in place. "Papers, plaese!" follows, followed closely with just "Papers!".

Ignorance causes the destruction of republics. It always has.

I'm not. I don't like the sound of "Papers, plaese!".

Good day to you, you lovely lady.

I was just listening to the Atlanta news on the radio. Atlanta is home to Hartsfield, the world’s busiest airport. They said the Opt-out protest is a big flop. People are using the scanners and everything is running as smoothly as you would expect on a busy holiday travel day.
This a perfect situation for Dems, condition people to meekly accept whatever the government orders.

Opt-out protest is a big flop

Not surprising really (unfortunately)...

Just changed our daughter's ticket from a large airport to a smaller one (without nudi-scope) so she can fly home for Christmas. She needs to be prepared that they can still do the pat down, but at least (for now) she won't be faced with the scanner.

After that --- no more flying for her unless/until they change the policy. But with the public perfectly willing to give up their rights, I don't see that happening anytime soon.

What the heck is happening to this country.
