Even as White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said the administration is “desperately” trying to balance security and passenger concerns, Transportation Security Administration head John Pistole has filmed a public service announcement. It’s aimed at the TSA’s “partners in security”—the hapless fliers holding their coats, belts, keys, shoes, laptops and liquids at airport checkpoints.

My "partners in security" say "Colt", "Mossberg", and "Glock" on the barrel.
I recently discovered there is a patented technology that can detect (internal and external on a body) PETN and other explosives. The current nudie-pic machine can't.
It is called LVARS Standoff Detection Raman Spectrometer For Detection of Improvised Explosive Devices. This technology was developed by a company under contract with the DoD and when offered to DHS/TSA by this DOD organization about two years ago, DHS/TSA refused it.
If DHS/TSA used this technology then all we need do is use the usual metal detectors and have the person walk through a LVARS portal (non-invasive, no nudie-pics, no pat-downs, nothing).
Something is up if TSA is ignoring technology that will keep us safe from explosive devices but chooses to grope and take nudie-pics.
ANSWER: The White House.

Did they hire Chertoff as their lobbyist? I thought not. The developers of this product probably deluded themselves into thinking the US Government is in the security business. Fools. We are in the buying and selling of public officials for private gain business. Don't forget it.

When I think of Germany in 1939, I think of the Jews in Warsaw. They stood up to the Nazis. If there had been more actions like that, the Nazis would have been defeated by the very people that they tried to oppress and exterminate.
We have some 60-80 million gun owners in the US. I don't know how many have enough sense to defend themselves, but I suspect that a few million will choose to stand up and fight. I will fight, and if it means the end of my life, then so be it. 'Tis better to die on my feet than to live on my knees.
What bugs me more than anything about this whole system is the government saying how the scanner/pat-down is absolutely necessary to avoid terrorism. Yet more than half the people going through security are subjected to neither of these. If it is so important, then put everyone through it. No doubt, all of these people who have been polled and say they approve, are in the group that was just waived through. My wife has been scanned both times we have gone to the airport since this started (I have not been). She is a pleasant-looking thin 68 year old grandmother who does not wear baggy clothes. I, on the other hand, look more likely to be suspect than she does. But she is scanned and I am not.

I cannot wrap my head around the fact that women are actually being sexually assaulted by the TSA...
Its mind boggling...
Every attempt to terrorize an airliner -except 9/11- has originated outside the United States. And 9/11 was a huge exception because the entire act was perpetrated by a combination of criminally negligent security and box cutters- not explosives. These scanners and patdowns are overkill. Simple detectors for simple weapons are sufficient. Certainly there isn’t even a need to take off your shoes.
What makes air travel more sacrosanct then any other activity? Do you all realize that if a terrorist packed with explosives has gotten so far along at to get to a check in line at the airport, he could walk unto a bus or train, into any mega store, into a sport stadium, anywhere, or he could just set off the explosive on that check in line.
Even if these procedures had some legitimate purpose all they end up doing is inviting terror at undefended locations with larger crowds then in just one plane.
What would cripple us (socially and economically)more? A plane bombed or a mall bombed.
Which would you go after if you were a terrorist today?
