TEL AVIV, Israel (Ma'an) -- Israel's national airline El Al on Monday apologized to a visiting professor strip-searched on her way to conference in Jerusalem, an Israeli newspaper reported.
Heather Bradshaw, a neuroscientist, was travelling from the UK to Israel at the invitation of Hebrew University when she was subjected a physical examination in which she was asked to remove her bra.
She told the Israeli daily Haaretz that El Al security personnel detained her at Luton airport in London on 31 October, confiscated all of her belongings, and repeatedly questioned her. After nearly an hour of examinations, she was reportedly reprimanded for holding up the flight.

Many years ago (over 30 years ago) I was detained at a checkpoint in Israel and each and every thing, piece by piece, was taken out of my suitcase. They even took my hairdryer apart and returned it to me in pieces. I could never figure out why I had “set off” the need to search all my luggage. They didn’t search my person, just my suitcase.

If she wanted to be strip searched, fondled and gawked at in an airport she would have stayed right here in the good old USSA where there are uncountable legions of rude federal emloyees ready to do the job.

The TSA assault has actually been going on for several weeks on a trial basis. It just became general policy recently (after the election).

And I'm unclear on why they've let her in multiple times in the past without a hassle...are you saying that the war is new?
El Al has apologized and is conducting an internal investigation, and Hebrew University is complaining, so I guess they don't understand that war thing.

Wrong. I'm not posting in support of the TSA non-profiling, but am posting counter-points to false claims against it. Let's be rational about it, not making stuff up.
If Barack Obama had put into place an El Al system, many FReepers would have been screaming as loud about it (and the government gathering personal information on American citizens) as they are about the current methods. And they ignore the fact that El Al uses a multi-layered approach that would be even more intrusive here to be effective in the different scenario we face. Etc.
I'm just calling for calling a spade a spade.
