God bless Scooter and his family, and damn the loose cannon with overwhelming authority, Fitzie, the slimey Armitage and his boss, Colin Powell .. who knew the truth. Before any BDSers leap to claim redundantly that Pres. Bush should have pardoned him, he made it clear it wouldn't have been appropriate as President for him to overturn our system of law and the jury.
.. Ping!
And where is Russert today?
Good article. Except for the reasoning on Bush not pardoning Libby.
Your explanation for that I agree with.
PLUS, the MSM headlines would have screamed “BUSHITLER pardons GESTAPO LEADER”, during the elections.
It wouldn’t have mattered, though.
Bush should have pardoned Libby. It was a political fishing expedition.
That is the primary reason that I saw President Bush as a Good President. And not just that once, but the fact that he has been consistently this way since he started in politics.
He was running for reelection as Governor, a woman who had violently killed her family and was due to be executed, suddenly got religion. The other candidate supported giving this woman a stay. All George Bush had to do, at that time, was give the poor woman a stay of execution, based on her finding God, and he would be guaranteed the election.
He said no. For the very same reason you stated.
Thank You SW.
Sure. But what you are saying (or any of us) is that YOU would have pardoned Libby. I say this because neither your or I are George Bush.
Perhaps he has higher standards, as I have witnessed in the past.
Maybe he thought it would damage the party more than it would help.
Who knows?
By NOT doing so, he has certainly set the example for NOT GOING AROUND THE LAW.
All these other politicians are known for doing the exact opposite, so...
Given the reason that STARWISE listed, do you think President Bush still should have done so?
Yes, I believe that Bush should have pardoned Libby, STARWISE’s opinion aside.
>>>Never mind that Mr. Russert’s own memory had proved flagrantly untrustworthy in a previous instance.<<<
Tim Russert was a snake—an evil, self-serving snake. Thank God he is now in Hell where he belongs.
The next Republican President should make his or her first order of business to give Scooter a full pardon, and apology for the miscarriage of justice.
And set the example of why you should never work for Bush or give him any support.
There is plenty of law, one could cut it to pieces, run it through a meat grinder, and there would still be plenty to go around, and it would work just as well.
Bush certainly did a great job of painfully detouring around justice, wouldn't want to get any of that on his hands.
“Yet neither Wilson was convicted of a felony.”
Yep. She should have been brought up on nepotism charges and he for later lying and changing his story. His actual ‘intel’ tended to validate the other WMD intel. “Why else would anyone came to Niger for ‘trade’???
I also wish Bush would come off the ‘there weren’t any’ (WMDs) thing. With the intel from all sources and the fact that they could have been shipped out before we got there... just the _possibility_ of that, should make it less of a ‘certainty’ that they didn’t have any.

I cannot forgive Bush for allowing the Fitzgerald show-trial to procede, and I cannot forgive Bush for not fully pardoning Scooter and exposing that charlatan named Fitzgerald as an evil, spiteful SOB who should have never been allowed to be a U.S. Attorney. Further, I cannot forgive Bush for not excoriating the loathsome Joe Wilson and his even more loathsome wife for lying to the American people and allowing an innocent man to convicted of a crime he did not commit.
Okay, I will forgive Bush when he repents, but I am not holding my breath.
I would hope you’ll reconsider the insanity of that logic
in the morning.
Just broaden it out .. let’s say:
how ‘bout Obama pardons Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani,
convicted of just one count out of 285 .. for the US
embassy bombings in East Africa .. because in his
mind he thinks there must be something amiss if the
jury only found him guilty of just one of those many
counts.
How’s that sound ?
Wow .. I’m sure he’ll lose sleep over that.
.. Ping!
OK. Thanks for responding.
This one is yet to be corrected.
