Sarah Palin Says She Could Beat Obama
ABC News ^ | Nov. 17, 2010 | MARY BRUCE

Sarah Palin says she is seriously considering a run for the White House, and she believes she could beat President Obama in 2012, the former Alaska governor told ABC News' Barbara Walters. "I'm looking at the lay of the land now, and ... trying to figure that out, if it's a good thing for the country, for the discourse, for my family, if it's a good thing," Palin said in an interview scheduled to air in full Dec. 9 on ABC as part of Walters' "10 Most Fascinating People" of 2010.

How many had a personal hairdresser traveling around the country with them, even before being a candidate? (besides John Edwards)

How many had hair? ;-)

Then there's this gem: "*A Constitutionalist, Governor Palin signed Alaska’s Clear and Equitable Share (ACES) bill into law. The Alaska constitution states that the Alaskan people own the oil and other resources. This law ensures that the “owners”, the people of Alaska, receive a clear and equitable share of oil profits.

That's CONSERVATIVE? Sounds pretty socialistic to me!

Hey idiot, Sarah didn't write the Alaska State Constitution, but she did sign into law this legislation to uphold it.

The only ones currently polling as front runners are Romney, Palin, and Huckabee, and then Gingrich behind that pack, nobody else is on the radar, so you can add any name you want, but it doesn’t mean much.

Right now, for you and the media, and the establishment, taking out Palin opens up the field for Mitt Romney and his well funded, well oiled machine, and his next in line, establishment backing, it does not mean turning everything into a start over from scratch.

He got the female vote.

He didn't in the 2010 midterm elections, and he won't in 2012.

She needs to be able to take these states

Well, considering the midterm successes, you can update your map to include MN, WI, IN, PA, MI, ME, NH, and possibly OR.

Your man is an establishment moderate

If Haley Barbour is a moderate, then so is 90% of the Republican Party.

that is calling for a surrender on social issues

No, he said that running on social issues would not gain Republicans any votes in 2010. And he was right.

with almost zero showing as a presence for the primary.

The primaries are more than a year away. Lets see where his presence is if and when he runs. Better yet, lets see how things stand after a debate or two.

Palin is the primary front runner

Sorry, Romney is the front runner based on the vast majority of polls in the early primary states, with Huckabee in second.

In a recent series of state-by-state polls by PPP, of the 18 states polled, Palin and Romney each led in 6 states, Huckabee led in 4, and Gingrich and Pawlenty each led in one state. Neither Barbour nor Demint were among the eight candidates included in the poll.

In no state did Palin poll higher than 25%. Perhaps most telling, she came in 4th place in Alaska behind Huckabee, Gingrich, and Romney. Not a very good sign when one of her worst showings was in the state where votes know her best.

In short, she can hardly claim to be the "front runner".

while also being the favorite of conservatives

She seems to be getting about 25-35% of the conservative vote in most polls. Also, about 40% of conservatives think Palin is not qualified to be President according to a recent CNN poll. While she is certainly popular among conservatives, she is a long way from being "the favorite" of conservatives to be President.

and you are trying to knock her out of the race

Do you really think Artemis Webb or anyone else on Free Republic really thinks they have the ability to "knock her out of the race"?

that is some serious business there.

This is serious business, but your post is a joke. Forgive us if we don't care to have Palin rammed down our throats.

No, Palin is the primary front runner is what Gallup and Rasmussen show, and Barbour did call for a surrender on social conservatism as he agreed with Mitch Daniel’s call for a “truce” on social conservatism. Barbour also seems to be distancing himself from the conservative movement and the tea party as he embraces the moderate establishment.

I never said that you guys could knock the top conservative out of the race, I said that you were trying to.

““They’re not running for anything,” Barbour said of Palin and Beck. “I don’t know what all they’re talking about. They draw huge crowds, and enthusiastic crowds, but what somebody is talking about that is not directly related to campaigns, then I’m sort of not paying a lot of attention.”

“But if somebody goes to campaign for governor candidate x, I would hope that somebody would stay focused on the issues that matter to the campaign: jobs, the economy, taxes, spending, debt, deficits,” Barbour continued. “You run down rabbit trails, you’re wasting— you’re using up valuable resources that could be used to talk to people about what they care about.”

When asked about comments by Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, a Republican, that said the GOP should call a “truce on the so-called social issues” to focus on fiscal matters, Barbour said he supported the sentiment.

A candidate’s stance on abortion “ain’t going to change anybody’s vote this year,” he said.”

Excuse us if we don’t buy into Barbour’s call for conservatives to surrender, and for a “truce” on abortion in 2012, as he runs towards Mitt Romney and the establishment.

Hey, if she can just make up words, why not the rest of us?

Which word was made up?

If you're thinking it was "ineluctable," you'd be mistaken.

"Ineluctable" is a real word. It's an adjective meaning "unable to be resisted or avoided; inescapable."
