Report: Cowboys players not big Jason Garrett fans
NBC Sports ^ | November 8, 2010 | Mike Florio

Posted on 11/09/2010 2:15:51 PM PST by MinorityRepublican

As Jason Garrett gets settled in as interim coach of the Cowboys, Albert Breer of NFL Network sprays a little rain (or possibly a less clear liquid) on Garrett's parade.

Breer reports that he hears a majority of the players in the locker room "don't like [Garrett] at all."

Of course, it's not a popularity contest. As one league source told us on Sunday morning regarding the current head coach of the Vikings, "Brad Childress is disliked by all."

And yet when the players had an opportunity to lay down late in Sunday's game against the Cardinals to ensure Chilly would be fired, they chose winning.

So who cares if the players don't like Garrett. They apparently liked Wade Phillips, and that was good for one win in eight games.

The Cowboys have been treated softly since training camp from what I hear. They need a coach they don’t like.

Not liking the coach is fine. The coach’s job isn’t to make friends. If they don’t play their best under his direction, that is a whole different thing. Based on his opening press conference, i don’t doubt we’ll see some pretty big names benched if they are not giving 100% or if they make repeated mistakes. I am guessing Garrett will have Jerry’s backing for those moves, too.

Meanwhile the Cowboy somehow allowed their lease on dallascowboys.com to lapse. This is just plain an unprofessional organization.

What Garrett needs to do tomorrow morning is announce, “Every position on this squad is up for grabs, starting today.”

Screw those millionaire crybabies. Maybe the second- and third-string guys are hungry enough to seize the opportunity. What, we’re gonna lose a few games? Just sayin’...

I miss Banzai Billy Bates and friends!

What is the common denominator of a team that has one only one playoff game in 15 years? Jerry Jones should look in the mirror and acknowledge that no other owner would ever hire him as a general manager...so, why does he believe he can serve in that role for the Cowboys?

Garrett is a loser and will fail. His offense is unimaginative and predictable.

The players don’t have a problem with the status quo. It’s the owners that want to lock the players out. It was the owners that opted out of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Bill Cowher will be the head coach of the Cowboys next year.

Cowboys players were huge Wade Phillips fans.

They went 1-7 for him.

This is just plain an unprofessional organization.

They are also the only NFL team to donate to Planned Parenthood.

Bill Cowher will be the head coach of the Cowboys next year.

That would fit the Jerry Jones pattern of opting for a no-nonsense coach after a bout with a softie. That's what he did after Dave Campo when he was able to land Bill Parcells.

Maybe Wade Phillips didn't win this year, but no one can deny he is a class act.
Another case of the apple not falling far from the tree.
Wade Phillips and his dad, Bum Phillips
Two class acts.

Garret deliberately got Phillips fired.

Why can't they hire Bum Phillips?

Why would Bill Cowher take an Assistant Coach job to be micromanaged by Jones?

You don't think there will be a "big boy" coaching job out there for Cowher?

Why would Bill Cowher (or any other competent head coach) want to work for a narcissist like Jerry Jones?

As a Giants fan, I am happy the Cowboys have Jerry Jones and the ‘Skins have Snyder. Now, if only we could get the Cardinals back in the NFC East.
