Tea Party Is Evidence 'Democracy Works,'--President Bush

The rise of the Tea Party movement shows "democracy works ," former President George W. Bush says in an interview to air Tuesday night on Fox News' "Hannity."

"Here's what I see. I see democracy working. People are expressing a level of frustration or concern and they're getting involved in the process," Bush told Sean Hannity in advance of the release Tuesday of his memoir, "Decision Points."

"And the truth of the matter is, democracy works in America," Bush said.

Hmmmm.........I wasn't talking about your comments at all.

There have been vile, awful things said about Laura here on FR (none from you), and that's what I was referring to.

At any rate, I don't have any problems with your difficulty in knowing that Laura is not pro-life. I disagree with her profoundly on that and am disappointed, but nonetheless believe that she was a classy and gracious First Lady.

There's no need to defend the way you feel to me, Friend. It's cool. :)

You’ve got that right, neighbor. We’d better keep it this way, ‘cause we sure don’t want to go the way of CA and some of the NE states. #1- rid of the illegals, ship them back by bus or boat to their motherland, no matter where it is. We have enclaves of every nationality, they speak their mother language...so take them back...we speak Tex English here.

I have been with GW through thick and thin, but if it`s true that he said Sarah was unqualified etc , then that`s the last straw.

As someone said up-thread, he may have said this privately, but if someone blabbed it to a reporter, THAT person should NEVER be trusted by GWB again.

President Bush is entitled to his personal opinion, but he hasn't come out slamming her in public.

“The shrub and his daddy are ‘New World Order’ guys”

The “shrub?” only people I know that use that term are way lefty Libs......you a mole/troll? You sure sound like one....

The “New World Order” Bush Sr was talking about was a World where, in the aftermath of the soviet collapse, there was only one “Super Power” left...the USA.....Your problem with that statement of fact is?

I get real tired of people that attempt to redefine/twist the meaning of President Bush’s words to persue some wacked out nut case conspiracy agenda....don’t you?

Oops....of course you don’t....u r 1........Cashew or Brazil?

“Does the name Harriet Myers sound familiar to you?”

Yes, it does >>>>>

In the wake, of Sandra Day O’Conners retirement , and amid Democrat pressure to appoint a “moderate” woman to replace her, Bush nominated a an obviously unacceptable to the Republican Senators moderate woman, Harriet Meyers, to take the hit for the team so that he could get who he really wanted....

As expected, and planned/counted on, the Dems stayed quiet, with ill concealed glee, as the Republicans tore Harriet apart, thereby pre-emptively preventing them from objecting to Bush’s replacement nominee, Sam Alito.......a constitutional conservative jurist.....who sailed past the Dems on the Judiciary Committee, and through the Senate’s Advise and Consent process, to become Sandra Day O’Conners replacement......

Pretty hard to understand the game of chess when all you ever played was checkers isn’t it? Course then you’d have to admit that Bush had a lot more going for him than you want to admit....it might just be the first step in curing your BDS.....

BTW Pappy Bush did the same thing to the Dems when Thurgood Marshall seat opened with his nomination of Clarence Thomas......The Dems push for a “Black” replacement for Justice Marshal, ......read Liberal, backfired when Bush nominated the eminently qualified, and Conservative black jurist Clarence Thomas.......I had to laugh as Teddy Kennedy, in concert with commie party lawyer and Ohio Senator Howard Metzenbaum, tried to make a case that Clarence was a “womanizer/sexual harasser”.....LOLOLOLOL

Course the libs, after 18 years, still think he was and still persue that charge....mainly because it fits their agenda to believe so, but also because it pushes the meme that Justice Thomas, is a cretian/stupid/brutish without them appearing like the racists they are.....

Rovian storm?........lololol....methinks Karl has become just a typical inside the beltway Washington blowhard of late.....

“W only made one HUGE mistake. Instead of taking advice on how to handle the mortgage meltdown from the 2 men most responsible for causing it (Bernake, and Paulson) he should have shown them the door.”

Agreed, however, by then, I think it was too late....the years of damage done by Dodd, Barney Frank, Freddie, Fannie, et al, was irreversible.....we’er stuck letting the real estate finance disaster play itself out.....spit......

“George W. Bush had a Republican congress for the first 6 years of his presidency.”

Not True.....Tom Daschele was Senate Majority Leader for the first 2 years when Jumping Jim Jeffers, became and Independant, giving the Dem Caucus a numerical majority.....

BDS is cureable ya know!

“that he never raised taxes as Reagan did.”

correction .....never allowed congress to raise taxes like Reagan did.

The President cannot raise or reduce taxes....only the Congress can...(with his approval)

There was a Republican house for 6 years.

I hope they have something to cure your Bush Worship Syndrome, because it appears to have taken over your entire thought process.

Your little story about Bush’s deft appointment of Harriet Miers to make sure that Alito would get confirmed is a very amusing story. I can’t wait to hear the ones about Medicare Part D, NCLB, and ‘abandoning the free market to save it’.

“There was a Republican house for 6 years.”

You said “congress” I was correcting your attempt to disguise the fact that the Democrats held the Senate for 4 of Bush’s 8 years, that the Dems held the House for 2 of 8 years, and that the Dems held both chambers for the last 2 of 8 years....

Even then, the Majorities that the Republicans had for those years were slim, and given the voting record of people like Snowe, Collins, Spectre, Chaffee, McCain, Graham, et al, I could reasonably say that the power in the Senate, and by extension the entire Congress, rested in the hands of the minority Democrats.

The Dems spent all the Bush years obstructing the Republicans and pushing a far left agenda. Compare that to the overwhelming Majorities that the Dems enjoyed the past 2 years, and how badly they have mismanaged the country because there was no possible check on them by the Republicans in either chamber... yet not a peep out of you.....

The Democrats were ultimately successful in demonizing Bush, a tactic they persued from almost the minute he took office in 2001 ....And people like you that echo the Dem talking points are as much to be shunned as Liberals are in conservative circles.....

“I hope they have something to cure your Bush Worship Syndrome, because it appears to have taken over your entire thought process.”

I don’t worship any man, and instead realize, and accept, that each of us is flawed in some way. The difference between us is that I look for the good in people, recognize it when I see it, and celebrate it. To be as throughly nit-picky and contrary as you, seaching for perfection in a man, any man, must be a cruel burden of unfulfilled proportions. I feel sorry for you.

You probably say I’m a Reagan worshiper when I say that like him, I see a dawning America, with bright sunshine just ahead.... will it rain? Of course it will, that’s how flowers grow tomorrow.....

You just go back to your doom and gloom, and everyone is wrong attitude. Hope you like being alone. Part of being a true Conservative is being realisticaly optomistic about the present and the future.

“Your little story about Bush’s deft appointment of Harriet Miers to make sure that Alito would get confirmed is a very amusing story.”

....and so obviously true to anyone not wearing brown encrusted eyeglasses, such as yourself. Comment about Daddy’s Clarence Thomas appointment? Same tactic by Daddy....Same result....another Conservative on the Court. It is not only the blind that cannot see....there are those that will not see.....

Time to smell the coffee Rove worshiper, your kinda of poop just doesn’t cut it anymore.....I mean afterall, with naysayers like you, who needs enemies?

Oh and BTW, despite what you think, being elected President is in no way like being elected King.

Yeah, so it totally follows that the answer is to advocate for and push through massive government power grabs and new entitlements! How could a conservative not be happy with that?

The Dems spent all the Bush years obstructing the Republicans and pushing a far left agenda.

And you expected something different from them? The only surprise was that the Republican agenda was barely to their right.

Compare that to the overwhelming Majorities that the Dems enjoyed the past 2 years, and how badly they have mismanaged the country because there was no possible check on them by the Republicans in either chamber... yet not a peep out of you.....

Yep, you've got it all figured out. Anyone who isn't happy with what happened during the Bush era absolutely must support the commiecrats in congress now. That's some shovel-ready deep thinking you're doing there.

The Democrats were ultimately successful in demonizing Bush, a tactic they persued from almost the minute he took office in 2001 ....And people like you that echo the Dem talking points are as much to be shunned as Liberals are in conservative circles.....

Yes, those tried and true Dem talking points...Like criticizing him for letting Ted Kennedy write the education bill, excoriating him for signing the blatantly unconstitutional McCain/Feingold, scolding him for ushering through Medicare Part D, and like reminding people of his checkered record on the Harriet Miers incident, and finally his brave attempt to 'save' the free market by abandoning his 'free market principles'.

Sounds like a DNC press release, doesn't it? Yep, you've got it all figured out alright.

Don't stop thinking. If you keep practicing, some day, you just might get it right.

My, my! you do have your little anti Bush/anti Republican talking points down don’t you? Spin things in as bad a light as you can, repeating it over and over again doesn’t make it right or true, nor does it accomplish anything. Is that a winning tactic for you in influencing people and making new friends?

I’m not gonna repond to your last post in detail because it is so full of strawmen/illogic/taken out of context mumbo jumbo as to be useless for a basis of discussion.....

Case you haven’t read the news, we Conservative Republicans, through the Tea Party movement, are coming back and taking charge.......promoting and advancing Conservative values.....We’re gonna do great things for our country in the next few years! (You can thank us later!)

‘Course I do expect you to be casting stones all along the way....Nay-saying everything, crying over every little bump, constanly askings “When are getting there?”, and nit picking any accomplishments. Nothing ever quite meets your “standards” does it? You like that cat-birds seat? It’s sure’s a lot easier than sticking your neck out trying to accomplish/build something and sometimes failing.

Ever try or consider “Constructive Criticism?” Might wanna try it sometime, even your dog will like you better.... (if that is possible....most dogs love their masters in spite of their flaws)

Why is it that we never hear a positive thing out of you? Are you incapable of it? Does it hurt to say something optimistic? Does it scare you to put out what you believe are viable solutions? Or do you just not have any solutions? That cat bird seat sure is comphy!

OK you’ve mentioned NCLB twice, and I agree with the unstated underlying premise, that our education system sucks....Soooo...... How would you fix it?

Is it that hard to think ahead, stay positive, work to reach tomorrow’s goals?

I think that that would be lots better than spinning the past into as negitive a thing as possible, dwelling on it, becoming embittered, and crying in your beer all night.

For myself, I’d rather fix the problem, than waste my time fixing real or imagined blame.
