Morris Says Reports of Republican Turnout are "Unbelievable" and Democrat Turnout "Underwhelming"
Enthusiasm Gap Strikes in VA-8; Could Brookline Be About To Elect Sean Bielat?
Update: Dick Morris says we're heading for an "unbelievable landslide," based on reports from the ground all over the country.
For a week I've gotten some downer emails from a VA-8 voter calling Patrick Murray's bid to unseat Jim Moran. Can't happen. Impossible. The district is too bright blue, filled, as it is, with people who work directly for the federal government and/or the permanent bureaucratic political para-government of fundraisers, consultants, and issue-advocacy types.
Today he voted... and reports that Democrats aren't showing up.
I've been voting here in Arlington for 15 years, alternating between morning and afternoon based on my gut feelings about turnout.
I voted at 8 am this morning in South Arlington, bluest part of a blue county... I've *never* seen a polling place emptier.
I still don't see Murray having a serious chance-- this is Arlington, FFS-- but he *may* have a chance in Hell, depending on turnout...
Fingers crossed!
And in "bluer than blue" Brookline, MA...
For 25 years Ive lived in Brookline, where Republicans admit theyre Republicans at their own risk. Yet I havent seen so many lawn signs for a Republican since a few courageous matrons put a Weld for Governor placard on their lawn in 1990 and paid the price: social suicide. They were promptly shunned at Whole Foods. Their poor children sat alone in the cafeteria.
It says something huge about Barney Franks fall from grace that a few brave Brookline-ites are ready, again, to risk their neighbors wrath.
Heres what Im seeing: a few dozen small and discreet Bielat signs, mostly in South Brookline on the West Roxbury line, where theres more diversity. That is, you can actually question Al Gores prediction that the Cape will be underwater by 2025 and not be jettisoned from The Great Books Club.
Don't worry if that doesn't seem big enough -- MA-4 includes more than Brookline, and in Newton, for example, there are more Bielat signs than Frank signs.
Simple proposition: We turn out, they don't -- it doesn't matter what the partisan advantage is in any district. If they don't bother to vote, and we vote like the Republican depends on it, we win.
You can spot 'em a mile away.
To me, it is as though George Washington himself came back and said to get my butt to the polling place to defend what he fought for. I said “yes sir!”.
Go ten miles east and it’ll be “WHERE IS MY GUN?”
I live west 10 miles and it is RED RED RED
Death to the Obottoman Empire!!!!
Nothing would keep me away from the polls. If my party was headed for the disaster that the dems are, and they were destroying my country the way the dems are, I would vote against them. These stupid dems (if they are the ones sitting out) would rather the country go over a cliff than to get off their ass and try to stop it.
Most anything Dick Morris says is unbelievable.
What part of IL-11 are you in? I just moved out of that district in 09. I was in west Bloomington (northern part, not the crime ridden section). Moved to Normal and am now in the 15th with Tim Johnson. Would have rather voted for Adam today!
HEY, HEY, HEY!
Don't judge people by their perfume. My wife wears patchouli and she is as solid conservative Christian as they come. She wears it because I like it. I am also solid conservative Christian.
Jus sayn’
From Dick’s mouth to God’s ear!!
IL 11 is Gerrymandering at its finest.
Central IL in the same district as the burbs.
How is Brady perceived up there? I’m in his home town and I would guess he’ll get 90% of the non college vote.
Their genes and innate reflex action won't permit them to vote Republican and they know it......that's why they're sitting this one out.
They are also trained to understand if they mark for Republicans that hair will grow on their palms and they will go blind.
