Tea Party Doesn't Know How Government Works: Reid
CNBC.com ^ | October 22, 2010 | U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid

Posted on 10/22/2010 1:54:13 PM PDT by mdittmar

When members of the Tea Party say that pork is federal money wasted to create jobs, then they know little about the realities of what goes on in Washington, Sen. Harry Reid, (D-Nev.) told CNBC Friday.

“Whoever suggests that knows nothing about government, zero,” said Reid. "They don't know how government runs."

Reid, the Senate majority leader, who is in a tight race against GOP challenger Sharon Angle— a Tea Party favorite—was taking direct aim at the conservative group, which favors a limited role of government.

Between campaign stops in Nevada, Reid told CNBC that billions of dollars were set aside in the economic recovery bill to promote job growth. In Nevada alone, he said that includes $1.8 billion for construction jobs in renewable energy and $3 billion in bonds to be sold that puts 2,000 people to work.

"I'm sorry the economy is as bad as it is. I didn't cause this economy to go down. I have worked hard to create jobs in Nevada," Reid went on to say. "I've worked hard to save the education system in Nevada, bringing in $400 million to higher education. about $400 million to K thru 12."

Reid said that the leading Republicans in Nevada support him, because they don’t want to be associated with a plan that calls for dismantling government agencies and programs.

“They [the Republicans] are going to find—those people who have gone along with that Tea Party stuff—they’re going to find that it’s not their father’s Republican Party,” he said.

And post-midterms, Reid had this prediction: “I don’t think you’ll find as many Tea Party members as you might think.”

Actually Harry, they do. The distinction that seems to elude you is between a government for, by and of the people, and an oppressive dictatorship.

Reid is right. We don't know how the current government works, one because it isn't and two it is and has been run under lefty rules for years.

We do however know how the United States Government was INTENDED to work and how it worked when it worked best.

Well, here’s a question, does Reid know how economics, voting, etc. works?

Who are these Republican “friends” of his?

Reid has spoken out of both sides of his mouth for quite some time. Perhaps it’s about time to reckon his relationship to the Stimulus, being a hypocrite on the Iraq War, and calling things right or wrong at the spur of the moment. Perhaps he needs some retirement to chill out for a change.

“They don’t know how government runs.”

No. They’re mad - we are mad - because we have come to know exactly how government runs and we are sick and tired of sending our money to a corrupt and incompetent government.

Got it now?

Doesn't anyone in the media know how to do simple arithmetic? $3 billion + $1.8 billion = $4.8 billion. Divide that by 2,000 jobs and you get $2,400,000 per job.

Perhaps we really DO know something about how government works, and that's why we're gonna run your sorry a*s out of town!

Sorry Dingy, how “government works” depends on your definition of government. Our definition is a hell of a lot different than the definition you and Barry use.

Even if/when this clown loses, he’ll stand to make MILLIONS as a mega-lobbyist. He may even be able to upgrade from that shanty in the DC Ritz-Carlton he lives in!
