A brother and sister have been arrested on charges that they ran down an employee of a South Side Walmart last night when he tried to stop them from shoplifting computer equipment, police said.
Nikolai and Elizabeth Young of 288 Chambersburg Rd. were charged with aggravated robbery after their 9 a.m. arrest at their South Side home, police said. Both are jailed pending an appearance in Franklin County Municipal Court on Friday.
Dustin Carrel, a 24-year-old Walmart customer-service representative, remained in serious condition this afternoon at Grant Medical Center.
Carrel was injured at 11:42 p.m. last night while trying to stop a woman who had stolen a hard drive from the Walmart at 3579 S. High St.
Police said the woman went to the store's electronics section, asked about hard drives, picked up a boxed hard drive, and ran out of the store.
Carrel followed her and tried to stop her as she got in the passenger's side of a waiting Mercedes driven by a man. The car sped off, hitting and dragging Carrel before running him over.
Columbus police Lt. Michael Woods of the burglary squad said detectives identified Nikolai, 25, and Elizabeth, 28, as suspects through the description of the Mercedes and a partial license-plate number obtained by witnesses.

Probably not mom’s car. You see, welfare reform caused recipients to downsize from Cadillacs to Mercedes.
Nope...democrats...
Poor Dustin will probably get fired now.
Where is this?
Aggravated robbery??? Those two pieces of crap should be charged with attempted murder.
This gesture will indeed cost this poor guy his job.
Sounds like the Walmart guy is in serious condition. If he doesn't pull through, it could be murder (second degree?).
Columbus Ohio
Why bother putting 4 walls on stores if the employees are taught to “not interfere” with shoplifters? Might as well fill your cart up aned walk out the door if they’re not going to stop you.<p<
Hope they throw the book at these 2 POS’s. Regardless if they were theives they tried to KILL someone.
Ohio?
Have they fired the Walmart employee yet?
Bet he's laying in the hospital wondering the same thing...And they'll probably fire him for violating company policy.
Fact is, the owners and insiders running Walmart lose more money every two hours, than this guy will make in a life time.
Have a heart man, at least wait until the guy gets out of surgery!

Trash. Unquestionably, trash. Throw the book at them.
I used to work for a major department store as a sales clerk 8 years ago. We were told that if we suspected someone of shoplifting, to notify security. We were not to say anything or do anything on our own.
Not Guilty!! At least for the babe. One of the hottest mugs that I’ve seen for a while on this site.
I heard that it is about $ 100,000 per month at our local store.
