(CNN) - The gubernatorial battle in Ohio is deadlocked, according to a new poll. A CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey released Wednesday also indicates that the Republicans hold a wide lead in the fight for the state's open Senate seat.
Forty-eight percent of likely voters in Ohio say that if the election were held today, they'd vote for Gov. Ted Strickland, with 47 percent saying they'd vote for former Rep. John Kasich, the GOP challenger, and 3 percent are undecided. Strickland's one-point margin is well within the survey's sampling error.
..... Kasich held a seven-point advantage in a CNN/Time poll conducted a month ago.
...
... Besides being a battleground in this year's midterm elections, Ohio is also in the political spotlight since it's a crucial state in the fight for the White House.
According to the survey, 53 percent of likely voters in Ohio disapprove of the job President Obama is doing in the White House, with 42 percent saying they approve of how he's handling his duties. The president's approval rating rises to 45 percent among a wider sampling of registered voters, with 49 percent saying they disapprove.

I hope these polls drive MORE conservatives to turn out in droves.
What is happening to Kasich in Ohio is the same thing that's happening to Pat Toomey here in PA. A "nice guy" milquetoast Republican is getting his ass handed to him by non-stop attacks from hateful, lying Democrats - and IS NOT FIGHTING BACK.
People can scoff at these "outlier" polls at their own risk. The fact is that both the OH governors race and the PA senate race are now very likely within the margin of being lost by Massive Democrat Vote Fraud. PA and OH are two states where the Rats are experts at that.
Any updates on Tom Ganley?
Imam 0bamadinejad...
“has made 12 visits to Ohio this year because he knows that he must carry this State in 2012 to win reelection.”
He wants Ohio in THE ABSOLUTE WORST way. All those dead votes.
Shame on you, Ohio Democrats. You’ve trashed the state.
There’s “normal” tightening, but boy are these polls driving me nuts!
I don't think counties can do this, am I wrong?
The 'Rats and the media tried this in 1980. They had Reagan and Carter in a statistical tie a week before election day.
Just for kicks, go to YouTube and watch videos of the Big 3 Networks having to call it for Reagan in a landslide at 7:30 PM eastern time. The anchors are dumbfounded, from Cronkite to Mudd to Chancellor to Brinkley.
In other words, those who disapprove of the President are MORE likely to VOTE.
But the corruption in his administration has been breathtaking, beginning with Dann and this week Engle and the intercepted e-mails. Jones-Kelley, Cathy Collins-Taylor, Anthony Gutierrez, Henry Guzman...it never ends.
They are getting ready to steal the election. That’s what’s up.
Plus he has the NRA endorsement, which quite frankly he deserves. His record on the Second Amendment is better than Kasich's. Portman's going to crush Fisher, but this one's a toss up.
Looks like the TOTUS & Joey show is coming back to Ohio next week:
Obama, Biden Plan Another Ohio Trip

President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden plan to finish their fall campaigning with yet another trip to Ohio as they work to rally voters behind Gov. Ted Strickland, who is battling for a second term, officials said today.
It follows an Obama trip to the Buckeye state just last weekend, when the president led a rally in Columbus. The president, vice president and First Lady Michelle Obama have made several trips there this season as they try to stem a strong challenge from Republican John Kasich.
Mr. Obamas final campaign swing, next weekend, will include big rallies in Bridgeport, Conn., and Chicago on Saturday, and in Cleveland on Sunday. Hell also do a canvassing event in Philadelphia on Saturday. All four states have competitive statewide races for Senate and/or governor, and most have several tight House races as well. The rallies are get-out-the-vote events aimed at turning out Democratic voters.

They way over estimate democrat turnout in this poll, assuming it will be HIGHER than 2008 for Owe-bama.
Not to mention how they ‘weighted’ african american turnout.
Kasich is ahead by 5 as I type this.
