I actually feel bad for Juan - who is a flaming liberal mind you - but at least now he knows what he’s allowed to do when working for liberals: shut up and tow the party line.
This is good news for conservatives. This makes NPR look ridiculous!
I don’t think this undermined his credibility as an news analyst at all. If anything, it enhanced it.
Juan just jumped a few notches on my Esteemometer.
Wait a minute...aren’t my tax dollars funding this outfit? I protest.
Lets see of the NAACP accuses NPR of basing this on race
Mara Liasson might be next. NPR just needs a compelling reason to boot her off their air. I think it’s predicated on the fact that Soros has “bought off” NPR’s reporters for $1.8 million, and told to boycott FOX.
Firing offense: NPR axes Juan Williams for opinions on Muslims & post-9/11 travel
By Michelle Malkin October 20, 2010 11:44 PM
Un-freaking-believable.
Cable news blogger Johnny Dollar red-flagged NPR media correspondent David Folkenfliks Twitter feed, which announced tonight that liberal NPR analyst/Fox News contributor Juan Williams contract was terminated over comments Williams made about Muslims on The OReilly Factor. He gave his honest opinion: [W]hen I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous.
Guess who stirred up the pot to get Williams fired?
Think Progress and the Huffington Post:
Thats right. Government-funded NPR has apparently caved into left-wing attack dogs on the Internet.
Also in the lynch mob: CAIR, of course.
As Ive said many times before: Political correctness is the handmaiden of terror.
Condolences to Juan Williams, whom Ive debated vigorously, but always with respect and cordiality many times over the years.
Hope this accelerates his journey on the ideological learning curve. And I hope he doesnt back down.
Standards? When did NPR start having “standards?”
Holy carp, ping!
So, that’s why that flying pig crapped on my lawn!
NPR are the bigots. Honest comments about the danger of radical islam are NOT welcome at NPR.
Google “Steve Emerson NPR” and get the rest of the story ...

NPR is racist. Any one reporting on that station that’s worth their salt, should walk out.
BTW Crossfire has sucked for about the last 10? or so years and I've not watched it in too many years to remember. The first time I remember seeing Juan he was opposite of Robert Novak.
Now, folks, let’s not over-react here. We all know that our freedom-loving, patriotic president will step in and stand up for the basic right to tell the truth about the threat of radical Islam ... Oh, um ... Wait a minute ... I forgot: Imam Obama doesn’t quite share the views of most Americans on that subject. Let’s just hope he doesn’t have Juan stoned.
That said, if NPR's policies and standards permit or require a termination like this, we need to let Washington know that we, the people, will not tolerate one more dime of taxpayer funding for NPR -- unless, of course, we see corresponding funding for Rush, Laura Ingraham, and even [shudder] that Savage guy.
Without government funding, "Free Speech" doesn't apply to FR. The First Amendment does, though, forbid the government's financing or supporting an entity that shuts down reasonable comment about Muslims while it bashes Christians right and left.
This story smells like “dead fish”.
It was obviously a “Chicago style hit”. Probably ordered by Rahm or his boss. NPR is in the tank for 0, even though they try so desperately to look unbiased.
Juan has probably been on their “list” for quite some time.
Playing for the other team at Fox (even as an opposing viewpoint) didn’t help his case. No fraternizing with the enemy allowed!!
This is Obama and likely Soros — who this week declared all out war against Fox and Glenn Beck.... that is why Soros gave a million dollars to Media Matters. Watch Beck’s re-run tonight to get more details, but there was an article earlier this week that Soros was going after all Fox sponsors, not just Beck sponsors. Last year they tried to get Juan and Maura Liason fired at NPR I think they were waiting for an excuse to nail Juan since he refused to quit Fox and he finally gave it to them.
Now, imagine if he had said something about the war with Christian right-to-life advocates.
No problem with NPR on that one. I stopped listening to those fascist pigs years ago, but they had no problems demonizing Christians for the most trivial of reasons.
I don’t buy NPR’s explanation for the firing. They said it “violated their standards and practices”, as if he said the comments on NPR, which he didn’t. Which limits free speech for any NPR employee who is a contributor on another separate network.
Reminds me of that admission by Jesse Jackson: “There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery, then look around and see somebody white and feel relieved.”
