Honestly, I dont even know what to say about this.
Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa is threatening 401(k) plans insisting Democrats can use the lame duck, post-defeat session of Congress to ram through a measure that would seize your personal 401(k) plans and use them to prop up the union pension plans that are imploding.

Absolutely they are dumb, and evil enough.
They passed a bill they didn’t read, that 70% of the electorate didn’t want, and now, refuse to mention that bill in re-election efforts.
Is that behavior of a benevolent, intelligent political party?
“...Yes, the individuals whove been defeated in 2010 wont technically have anything to lose by voting for insanity and they could leave office giving their constituents a giant F-U. But what happens to them then?
Ben Nelson saw in Nebraska what happens when an elected official bucks the will of the people and does something crazy: after casting the deciding vote for Obamacare in the Senate on Christmas Eve, Nelson has been booed at, spit upon, and harassed everywhere he goes in Nebraska. I expect this to continue for the rest of his life and it will be remembered when hes up for re-election in a few years. His career is over, and any hope he had of spending his retirement as a celebrity former Senator being wined and dined all over town is gone. The man is a pariah, as well he should be.
This is what would happen to everyone who uses that lame duck session to screw over the American people.
Bigger picture than just these individuals, I dont know how the Democrats would ever recover from doing something like this in the lame duck session.
The partys brand has already taken punches that will take years to heal from, just from alienating all the Jacksonian/Clinton Democrats who are now Independent and siding with Republicans and will continue to do so for years to come.
But if Democrats really and truly tried to take peoples 401(k) funds away from them and redistribute those to the unions or tried to ram through Cap & Tax or other madness during that lame duck session its impossible to imagine the blowback the Democrat Party would suffer.
This would, in fact, permanently equate Democrats with Communists in the minds of Americans.”

I don’t think the suicidal discipline the dems have had will hold after this. It’s already starting to fall apart.
My pet theory is that the rank-and-file turn on the leadership and on Obama with a vengeance.
Thats why they do these things via stealth...like they did payroll witholding taxes on income.
Communism by the teaspoon...
Clever scheme , really.
Just the plan being floated out there is enough to get some to stop investing in their personal retirement. A bill in Congress would stop even more. Thus they realize their goal of even more people retiring and being dependent on the gubermint and increasing the AARP / Demonrat voting bloc.
And old farts are less likely to take up arms.( at least they used to be)
The Rats would get support from the moocher class:
43% have less than $10k for retirement (Mar. 2010)

THEY ARE.
THEY ARE ALSO CORRUPT.
THEY ARE ALSO DESPERATE.
THEY ARE ALSO DANGEROUS...........
I don’t think the dims will be able to do anything in the lame duck session. We can still fillibuster. Plus, many dims who get voted out will be plotting their comeback as of Nov. 3. Once they get voted out, Pelosi and Reid won’t have any power over them.
Short answer?
YES!!!
If anyone from the government lays one finger on my retirement after they (and by they I mean both R & Ds) have screwed up this great county then I guarantee you they will learn the true reason for the 2nd Amendment.
There will no need to wait for the other guy to start this.
We have a government (actually many levels of government) that have declared war on the producers in this country and it is time we developed a backbone.
I am tired of working to fund every scum sucking socialist program used to steal our money and give it to the filth of the earth losers who made stupid life choices and expect us to pay for their mistakes.
I did some internet research and was able to come up with this:
Harkin(D)
So, in answer to your question, yes.
Tea Party expansion.
The Republicans will be able to tie it up in the Senate, so it's simply not going to happen.
But I will admit: I actually hope the Democrats will try. As the author of this article points out, it will destroy the party.
No one except union members and welfare recipients will ever take them seriously again.
So far, they seem to be getting away with it - all the Repubs running aren't saying much.
But I remember some pretty intense town hall meetings last year.
They went ahead and did it anyway. "Stop us if you can".
So yeah, they'll try this. Like all psychos, they want to see just how far they can go.
Out and out theft? Sure, we can do anything. You'll get over it. Now hand over the cash, or we send men with guns to take it from you.
It's not Armed Robbery when the government does it to you, right?
If this is true, or even if it is only half true, the
Stupid Party (Repubicans) should launch an all out media blitz now. I am glad I rolled my 401K into my IRA account.
And YES Zero & his band of thieves are that SUPID!
nice suit...
you should know, you bought it

Does anyone know the purported logic behind the taking of 401K funds for any purpose, especially to prop up unions?
I always wonder when something like this comes up - what on earth prompted even the idea behind it?
The next step before hyperinflation is the taxation of 401k plans that then seizure with the claim that the government is just “borrowing” it.
Yes, and the two likely R wins over appointees means seating two more Rs immediately, so it would be 57-43 until January and the new congress.
“Cant Senate Republicans filibuster anything that comes down in a lame duck session of Congress? “
Only if there is political will. I suspect things like HCR get passed because the opposition secretly doesn’t mind. In HCR that’s a huge transfer of wealth and power to the political class. If you’re part of the ruling elite, what’s not to like? And if you have plausible denyability when it’s passed, that’s a double bonus!
I never forget that Republicans are politicians too.
