They’ve got to prevent the emergence of the “Garand gangs.”
Apparently the document in question was written by Theresa Figuretta (sorry for the mispelling). She is Chief Counsels Office.
What I find particularly disturbing about the document is that it’s very racially biased and reeks of Jim Crow mind set.
There is a lot more detailed information here...

The author of that tripe needs to be forced out of her job. She’s definitely using her position to forward her racist and anti-gun agenda.
EVERY gun does indeed pose a “public safety” problem...
if you define “public safety” as “the ability to impose our will on the populace without them having any means by which to resist”.
I certainly do not want to be a “ threat to public safety” by buying a M1. I’ll just save a little more money and buy an AR-10.
You could get these through the civilian marksmanship program for years now.

I wonder how long it’ll take for them to get shut down.
first Obama admits to an interviewer that there IS no such thing as a shovel-ready project, and now they wade back into gun control with this. Could they possibly stumble or fumble any more leading into an election?
The M1 does have a reputation of being key in the taking down of tyrannical governments.
Just more reason why no 2nd Amendment supporter should ever vote for Joe Manchin or any Democrat
We all know what the Obamites are truly afraid of: the people. They ought to be.
Gee, I wonder if the NRA will endorse another handful of Dim candidates. Sheesh!
Why does this have to be a federal issue at all?
Why can’t one of the states (New Hampshire comes to mind) offer to buy up the rifles from Korea, if they could afford it? This is hardly an “arms control” issue at the national level.
I’m sure New Hampshire Fish & Game, or whomever, would be immediately swamped with offers to purchase, and they could probably turn a profit, to boot!
Source of actual cancellation?
...permission had been granted for the rifles to be shipped to the U.S., then it was rescinded.
By whom? When? WND is not my most trusted source for hard news. It is official? Does the ROK know about this?
Doctors, automobiles, liberal judges, liberal politicians are all threats to public safety. Should they all be banned?
Well, at least the liberals should remain in the banned category.
I have been around a few, but maybe I am ignorant...
What exactly makes an M1 Garand more “dangerous” to public safety than, say... A browning BAR in any modern caliber, or a Ruger Mini-14/Mini 30, or a Remington 7400? The name? The fact that they came from a military depot?
Kind of like the old - add a pistol grip or a accessory rail to a rifle and suddenly make it a banned assault weapon...
This isn’t about public safety, it is about power and keeping it out of the hands of citizens.
Guns, guns, who needs ‘em. Got Machete’????
Pretty soon we’ll just behead each other like Mexico does.

Yup that NRA has really done a great job!!!!!
There was a reason why guns and ammo flew off the shelves when Obeyme was elected.
