Gov. Chris Christie today called the suicide of Rutgers freshman Tyler Clementi an unspeakable tragedy, but said he would let Attorney General Paula Dow figure out how to prosecute the case against two fellow students accused of recording him in a sexual encounter.
Well, first of all, as the father of a 17-year-old, I cant imagine what those parents are feeling today I cant, said Christie.
You send your son to school to get an education with great hopes and aspirations.
Christie said his feeling on the case as a father overwhelms whatever feelings I have as governor and that he didnt know how Ravi and Wei could sleep at night knowing that they contributed to driving that young man to that alternative.
The two have been charged with multiple counts of invasion of privacy.

What a tragedy. I’ll venture the young man was a virtuoso violinist, though I don’t know.
Extramarital sex is a sin, be it homo or hetero, but sin is sin, and Jesus had to shed his precious blood to atone for it.
Prayers for the young man’s family.
The dopey pranksters should be ashamed of themselves.
I don’t think that would make any difference, this is absolutely one of the cruelest actions besides physically attacking someone that anyone could possibly do.
No, their actions did not result in a death. The only thing that resulted in a death was the choice that the boy made to kill himself. They are no more responsible for his killing himself than George W Bush was responsible for 19 islamofacists choosing to kill over 3000 Americans by hijacking 4 jetliners and crashing them into the WTC towers and the Pentagon and a Pennsylvania field.
He killed himself in part, because of actions they chose to do. They may not have intended his death as their actions, but they share much of the blame if they drove him over the edge. That's why I said manslaughter, not first degree murder. It is about personal responsibility on their part as well. Their actions led to a result, they should have personal responsibility for their share of the action.
“did the culprits even have the faintest idea this guy would have killed himself over it?”
Often we hear reports of teenagers committing suicide due to bullying, etc. These pigs should have had a clue. Even if they didn’t, tormenting another human being in any way is unacceptable.
The boy and girl who did it need to be held accountable and made an example of.
I don't doubt for a minute they knew he was weak, bullies only tease who they percieve as weaker.
The question is how obvious is the causation between posting pictures of Clementi having sex on the Internet and his suicide. If someone asked me if its reasonable to assume someone may commit suicide if someone publicly humiliated them in that way, I'd probably say yes.
On the other hand, the kids pulling the prank, while mean-spirited, are still immature. Did they really think they were doing anything other than pulling a prank? Did they think through the consequences? That is a mitigating factor.
What difference does that make?
None of that really matters. They recorded explicit video of him without his consent -- a crime. They then distributed that video -- a bigger crime.
What difference does that make?
I pray that neither you nor anyone you love ever knows the absolute, lonely despair of suicide - regardless of where they fall within your arbitrary label system.
We cannot even begin to imagine the inner heartbreak this family is going through. This is so totally sad and what the hell business is it of anyone else anyway? Who gave those two morons the right to hide a camera and film someone in a private moment? Then to call someone else so they would know as well? What is wrong with these two people. SOMETHING is wrong with them. This is not normal behavior. It is perverted. They were the cause of this bright young man leaving our world when he should have just been beginning his bright future. I will pray for his family and may this young fella be at peace in the arms of the Lord.
As for the two vile perpetrators...all I can say to them is what is done is done and cannot be taken back. I wonder how funny they think it is now that they destroyed a life, wrought heartache and grief on a family just because they thought it was fun to do what they did. God forgive them.
May Celenti’s soul rest in peace.
I see the comments on that website are already spinning the story as if it’s about “bigotry” and “the right wing”.

No one even knows yet what the two doing the filming were thinking. The guy probably would’ve been filming his roommate no matter what he was doing.
This case is about invasion of privacy. If this case had been about a young man and woman filmed secretly together and broadcast via the internet, the issue would’ve been the same: invasion of privacy.
The case of the Missouri girl who was bullied on facebook, and killed herself, the Irish girl, there are many examples of stuff like this causing someone to kill themself
You are right, there have been numerous cases of stuff like this happening, the most recent it the beautiful Irish girl who killed herself.
Amen.
So?
I agree in this sense. If I were him, I would have spent as much of my life making these two miserable in every possible way until I got it out of my system. He could have made sure that it really sucked to be them. It's the kind of thing you have to do for yourself. Now they get to skate with a probable wrist slap.
Hamilton, teens do not have enough life experience to comprehend that a personal disaster doesn’t mean life, as they think it to be, is over.
Something like this comes along, and many teens can’t see beyond the immediate catastrophe (in their eyes) to a possible future.
This is why teens may react beyond “reason”.
I personally believe that sending teens off to college can be hazardous to their health and emotional development. Many of them are just not ready for the environmental swamp found on most campuses today.
Suppose you say something really really provocative like "The imposition of Shariah law in the United States would be a violation of the First Amendment and is completely unacceptable." Then as a result of that, at least in part, some imam who is also a chaplain on a military base gets really really pissed off and goes on a shooting rampage killing several officers and enlisted men before being shot by police officers. Among his personal effects there is an iPod with an MP3 file of your comment that he had obviously listened to. To what extent are you willing to be held responsible for the actions of this crazy imam that were "at least in part" because of the statement that he heard you make.
