The Family of Medal of Honor recipient Vernon Baker was denied access to the White House's West Wing on Saturday, a day after the World War II hero was buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
Baker's widow, Heidy, and grandson, Vernon Pawlik, 10, were denied entry because the boy was wearing shorts and a T-shirt. His shirt had a picture of his grandfather on it.
A White House website doesn't list a dress code, but the family had been invited to tour the West Wing, which houses the president's office and where casual dress is prohibited.
U.S. Rep. Walt Minnick's office says he's contacted the White House to express his disappointment.
Vernon Baker, of St. Maries, Idaho, was the last living black World War II Medal of Honor winner.
The White House didn't return a phone call seeking comment.

And had you scrolled down the thread before popping off...
My observation is that the WH protocol office is out of its mind on a regular basis.
>>>WH protocol has taken leave of its senses.
The people in leave of their senses are the parents. You’ve been invited to the WH. You plan accordingly with appropriate dress. Despite the present occupants, it’s not an amusement park, and people should dress appropriately.
You’d think there’d be a stash of ties somewhere to rectify the situation. You know, like a stuffy restaurant.
Hard to believe the only solution WH staff could come up with was to recind the invitation.
You were the one that threw the tantrum.
When I started my reply, your's was the last one on the page.
Your failure in reading comprehension is not my fault.
Grow up.

This is a sad story.
I don't think liberals really like or get or even approve of medaling war heros, it probably makes them go all snarky inside and forces them to hold back the urge to vomit.
I certainly would like the name of the person, the top person, who decided to deny entry on the basis of this little boys outfit. I help pay the salaries of the dirtbags in our WH, as do all of you, and would appreciate a little transparency. The freak who did this needs to hear from all of us.
Of course, it all comes from the top down. After all...we have a president who often does not even stroll in our oval office until 9:30 A.M. in the morning and rolls up shirt sleeves to work-fusses if he can't get done early enough to have his cocktails. He has even complained about the hard work of being a president. He has a lot of creepiness going on....laziness is at the top.
This a$$hole we have to call a president, is a disgrace to the nation. He’ll bow and kowtow to every foreign ruler and potentate who wishes us harm, but treats allied leaders and military like their pond scum.
It pains me to see him occupy the same office as Reagan, Truman, and the others who came before him.
Grow up, idiot.

The article has a Facebook option. I will post as my update when I get home. I always encourage others of FB to do the same.
Casual dress is prohibited? I recall a video of Clinton and some joggers in sweaty running shorts and tee shirts in the Oval Orafice. I also recall Bill and the woman who wiped him down going into the side room.
I am sure the wife and daughters of the current office holder follow this rule to the letter. /s
Malik Shabazz yes.
Grandson of Medal of Honor winner NO.
From the article: “His shirt had a picture of his grandfather on it.”
Let’s see, Andy Stern, George Soros, JayZ, no problem.
Military hero family, no way.
