Fort Bliss on lockdown, that's all it says right now
(Excerpt) Read more at foxnews.com ...
Seems crazy that any kid would go on base to rob a shopette--if that's what happened--but, then again, it may be one of the only convenience stores in EP where there would be no guns! ARGGH
The shooting involving the death of Ezra Smith was back in 2009
The timeline is from 2009.. please check the dates on these articles!!
KFOX: “Shooter Killed By Fort Bliss Law Enforcement”
KVIA Local News:
EL PASO, Texas — The second in command at Fort Bliss says two people were shot at a shopette on post Monday afternoon and that the gunman is dead.
Col. Joseph A. Simonelli Jr. declined to discuss details or identify the victims of the shooting incident. He also declined to say what condition the victims were in.
Chill, we’re past that and I asked the mods to pull it. And there is no date on it!
OK—now I’m confused—the date on the KFOX article is for today, but it seems the shooting of “Gerald” was a while ago—and FOX NEWS hasn’t given any recent info—guess their satellite link is down. Just hope no soldiers—or any of members of their families—got hurt.
FORT BLISS, Texas -- The Fort Bliss commander said the alleged shooter was shot, killed after a shooting at a small grocery store on post Monday. Col. Joseph A. Simonelli Jr. said two people were victims in the shooting. Simonelli said the shooting was reported about 3 p.m. and authorities responded in about three minutes. Simonelli said the area was roped off for an FBI investigation, but the sprawling facility next to El Paso was never under lockdown. Stay tuned for updates on this breaking story Link.
Back in the 1980s at Fort Lewis WA, the 2nd Ranger Battalion had a captain whose wife was sleeping with one of his sergeants. An E5 IIRC. The two were "in love" and to the degree that they decided to pull a stunt out of the movie "Body Heat." The wife would pretend to hear a noise downstairs and urge her hubby to go check it out. She would say: "Here, take this GUN..." The gun would be UNLOADED of course. When the unwitting hubby confronted the "intruder," said intruder would cap him.
The plan went off without a hitch and unsuspecting hubby trusted his wife that the gun was loaded when it was not and so he was DOA. The whole thing came unraveled when the sergeant went back to the barracks and blabbed. LOL. Too bad about the captain, though. But the obvious moral here is.... ALWAYS make certain of the condition of your firearm before commencing hostile actions!
Thanks—the only “small grocery stores” I remember at Bliss were the shopettes. There was one on Cassidy (and one of the main gates to the post is on Cassidy)—also one right near the officer’s housing development where my son and his family lived (think the street it was on is Jeb Stuart).
Believe me, I have been to Fort Bliss many times. They can shot back.

The media seldom really digs and states what the real cause is, infidelity/adultery.
Many of these shootings after troops return are because of this reason, or at least that was the case years past.
The media of course draws its own conclusions, PTSD/stress from war, soldiers who were desensitized by war and training (a popular theme many years past).............
