Far-Right party poised to take first seats in Sweden's parliament
The Telegraph ^ | 9/18/2010 | Paul O´ Mahony in Stockholm and Nick Meo

Swedes go to the polls on Sunday in an election which is likely to be a breakthrough for a far-Right party that had always seemed unelectable.

With his clean-cut looks, geeky spectacles, and sensible haircut, 31-year-old Jimmie Åkesson looks more like an accountant than a political extremist.

Jimmie Akesson, leader of the right-wing Sweden Democrats party

Yet in the past few weeks Mr Åkesson, leader of the far-Right Sweden Democrat party, has blamed immigrants for rape - especially Africans and Arabs.

His party has played crude television advertisements accusing burqa-clad Muslim women of taking benefits from white Swedish pensioners. And last year he called Islam the biggest threat to Sweden since the Second World War.

To the horror of his compatriots in one of Europe's most liberal and tolerant nations, blaming foreigners has worked electoral magic.

When Swedes vote on Sunday Mr Åkesson's anti-immigrant party will almost certainly win its first seats at a general election - and has even been predicted to come third with 7.5 per cent of the vote, according to one poll.

That would be enough to give them 28 seats out of a total of 349 in the Riksdag, Stockholm's parliament, ahead of five more established parties, and hold the balance of power.

It is the sort of far Right success that has been seen several times across Europe this year, and a prospect has struck fear in the hearts of Sweden's usually moderate voters who never thought they would see extremists get anywhere near power.

Mainstream politicians, deeply troubled by the party's success, have been forced to promise that they wouldn't under any circumstances go into coalition with the Sweden Democrats.

Swedes are bracing themselves for a difficult time of minority government, when their economic problems demand decisive leadership

“His fellow Swedes are shocked by his statements, but they agree with him?”

Heh heh ... they’re shocked at their shock, there.

I’ve not been, but I understand it is disgusting.

“...We have Muslim friends who have integrated well. But look at it this way. If I invite people to my home for dinner I obviously only have a limited amount of food. I can’t invite everybody. That doesn’t mean I’m racist, I’m just critical of the level of immigration we’ve had here.”

Most times the far-right win seats and usually end up having their “values” passed by the mainstream parties.

I don’t terribly like far-right parties. It is cool to have LePen or some Dutchman on the far-right to take names. It would be a lot less cool if we had a David Duke take over here.

Part of the reason I am kind of against illegal immigration and radical Islam is that it is such a breeding ground for extremists.I mean I am sure most Dems could get used to living in a white supremacist society but I kind of want something a little smarter.

Hopefully we will see gradual restriction on legal immigration-more penalties(including deportation) for legal immigrants who commit crimes and possibly a complete moratium.

Along with an immediate crackdown on illegal immigration without doing the equivalent of committing ethnic cleansing.I am not talking about busing people to Mexico when I use that term.

I am talking about mass graves in the desert.Which might just be where the hell we’re headed at this point.

As for Sweden, well best of luck getting your country straightened out guy.Don’t go nuts on the Finns or the other Scandinavians.

Many of Europe’s anti-immigration parties are actually leftist/socialist, and fully support the welfare state. They oppose immigration BECAUSE it endangers the welfare system.

Good - I hope he does well.

The truth, instead of political correctness, has to start somewhere. Soon.

This childish "far-right" crud is old, old, old.

Sweden is a small country that was ethnically homogeneous. As a kind of tribal, familial society, where values and standards are very similar, you build up the world's model for a welfare State going back to the 1930s.

Then it becomes government policy to import people, who are ethnically very different, culturally indigestible and economically parasitical.

What could go wrong?

The foreign immigrants ARE taking the benefits from Swedish grandmothers. The foreign immigrants DO commit rapes, murders and other crimes that the Swedes did not. The so-called 'immigrants' are NOT assimilating into Swedish society, they're remaining separate and they're keeping their retrograde third world Muslim cultures and they have created no-go areas in Sweden, where Swedish police and firefighters can't (or won't go).

This was all done by government policy. Now the government and their media goons scream racism.

I'm just surprised at the forbearance of the Swedes and why it has taken them so long.

So, if people suddenly wake up and realize they are about to loose their 21th century nation to some 7th century agressors they suddenly are protrayed as “extremists”?

That’s definitely true in some instances. Here’s one rule of thumb that may help.

If a leader is doing something wrong, he’ll be called Conservative by our press. If he’s doing something they can spin as racist even if he isn’t doing something wrong, they’ll still refer to him as Conservative.

A lot of these titles are geared toward smearing Conservatives.

If some guy is a socialist, he’s just a mainstream person. If he wants fiscal restraint or to stop his nation from being flooded by tens of millions of foreign nationals in short order, he’s a blatant racist, right winger, or ‘Conservative’.

I’m actually surprised you found that many far-left.

I’m not familiar with allintitle but I would think those far-left references weren’t mainstream submissions.

Perhaps they are.

One was along the lines of “far left lane of X bridge is closed to traffic.”

One was “politician X really isn’t a far-left loon like everybody says.”

And the rest were from conservative blogs.

Not just the Swedes

"Can a good Muslim be a good Australian?

"This question was forwarded to a friend who worked in Saudi Arabia for 20years.

"The following is his reply:

"Theologically – no. . . . Because his allegiance is to Allah, The moon god of Arabia.

"Religiously – no.. . . Because no other religion is accepted by His Allah except Islam . (Quran, 2:256)(Koran)

"Scripturally – no. . . Because his allegiance is to the five Pillars of Islam and the Quran.

"Geographically – no . Because his allegiance is to Mecca , to which he turns in prayer five times a day.

"Socially – no. . . Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to make friends with Christians or Jews.

"Politically – no.. . . Because he must submit to the mullahs (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and destruction of America , the great Satan, Australia and the rest of the free world.

"Domestically – no. .. . Because he is instructed to marry four Women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran 4:34)

"Intellectually – no. . Because he cannot accept the Australian Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes the Bible to be corrupt.

"Philosophically – no. . . . Because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran does not allow freedom of religion and expression. Democracy and Islam cannot co-exist. Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or autocratic.

"Spiritually – no.. . . Because when we declare ‘one nation under God,’ The Christian’s God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred to as Heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in the Quran’s 99 excellent names."

Truthfully - no, because of the Islamic doctrine of taqiyya, which commands him to lie to infidels to advance Islam and hide its true objectives. Therefore, you can't believe a single word spoken by any Muslim.

Bummer, huh?

Election over with a good result. Neither the socialists nor the "moderates" have a majority and the Swedish Democrats (Islam-aware, immigration restriction party) are in the driver's seat with 20 out of 349 seats.

"Moderates"-led coalition 172 seats
Socialist-led coalition 157 seats
Swedish Democrats 20 seats
