Sloan served as Minority Counsel for the House Judiciary Committee, working on criminal justice issues for then-Ranking Member John Conyers (D-MI). Sloan also served as Counsel for the Crime Subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee, chaired by then-Representative Charles Schumer (D-NY). There, she drafted portions of the 1994 Crime Bill, including the Violence Against Women Act. In 1993, Sloan served as Nominations Counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee, under then-Chairman Joseph Biden (D-DE).

Sloan serves as legal counsel for former Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson and his wife, retired CIA officer Valerie Plame Wilson, leading to the CIA leak grand jury investigation and the trial of I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby in United States v. Libby (see Plame affair). Sloan is one of the attorneys representing the Wilsons in their civil lawsuit against former and current officials of the George W. Bush administration (Plame v. Cheney).

Shocking - this came out on CNN? Shocked by the ministry of propaganda. Believe them NOT, nor this little ‘watchdog’ group. You suppose Castle is connected to this, or advisors/supporters/staff??

Enquiring (sic) minds NEED to know.

Melanie Sloan

The report featured Melanie Sloan of Citizens for Responsibilities and Ethics, who defended Daschle: "What Tom Daschle does is the more sophisticated kind of lobbying we have in Washington, where he's a consultant. And he talks to people about the strategy for getting a piece of legislation passed...Maybe the truth of the matter is, you need some of those Washington insiders in order to make your new government work. But then let's say that."

However, in a 2005 column by Ari Berman in the liberal magazine, The Nation, Sloan was quoted reacting to an ethics scandal surrounding Republican House majority Leader Tom Delay: "The fact that Tom DeLay is under criminal indictment and Senate majority leader Bill Frist is under criminal investigation is a historic first...This demonstrates the culture of corruption among the Congressional leadership that has become a cancer on our country." Berman’s column was posted on the CBS News website.

In 2003 Melanie Sloan, then 38, left a plum position as assistant U.S. attorney to start running a new government watchdog group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW). Working alone for the first 18 months, she gathered evidence that then House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX) had violated House ethics rules; her efforts helped lead to DeLay's disgraced exit from government in 2006.

Just in time for an election!

Tom DeLay cleared in federal probe

After a six-year investigation, the Justice Department’s public integrity section has informed Mr. DeLay that it was closing its file on his involvement in the Abramoff affair without an indictment.

* Public interest organization that litigates against corrupt political leaders
* Targets almost exclusively Republicans
* Heavily funded by George Soros’s Open Society Institute and by Democracy Alliance

CREW’s Executive Director is Melanie Sloan, a longtime Democrat operative who previously served as Nominations Counsel for Joe Biden’s Senate Judiciary Committee (1993);

White House offered Joe Sestak unpaid advisory board position

Melanie Sloan, the executive director of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, says there’s no “there” here. This couldn’t be bribery, she says, because the position was unpaid.

Beyond that, Sloan adds, the Federal bribery statute requires an offer of something of value in exchange for an official act. Sloan says that not running for Senate would not constitute an official act in any case, even if a paid position were offered in return for dropping a run for office.

Melanie Sloan: Darrell Issa Playing Politics to ‘Dirty Up’ Sestak

C.R.E.W’s Melanie Sloan joined Dylan Ratigan fill-in Eliot Spitzer to discuss whether there was anything illegal or improper about the White House offering Joe Sestak the advisers position. Sloan said there was nothing “even remotely close to the line” of the offer being illegal and that Darrell Issa is just trying to play politics and “dirty up” Joe Sestak so that Pat Toomey can get elected to the Senate in Pennsylvania.

Ms. Sloan has also been named one of Washington, DC’s Top Grassroots Lobbyists by The Hill for three years running and was profiled in the September 2009 issue of O Magazine as part of the O Power List. Recently, The National Law Journal named Ms. Sloan on of "Washington's Most Influential Women Lawyers."

See? When a conservative wins, it’s time to investigate everything. There’s a term for this: Palinization.

A watchdog group says it plans to ask authorities in Delaware to investigate Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell's finances. .... Citizens for Responsibility and Ethic in Washington claims was illegal. .. (blah blah blah)

She's used that money to pay for (blah blah blah). And that's just flat-out illegal," said Melanie Sloan, the group's executive director.

But Sloan said her organization's scrutiny had nothing to do with partisan politics.

BULLSH*T ALERT! BULLSH*T ALERT!

Melanie Sloan is a DEMOCRATIC Party hack!

She's as 'non partisan' as horn-dog, Billy Jeff, is gay.
