Citing "Mental Anguish," Christine O'Donnell Sought $6.9 Million in Gender Discrimination Lawsuit
Weekly Standard ^ | 9/12/10 | John McCormack

Posted on 09/12/2010 10:11:56 AM PDT by truthandlife

Court documents obtained Saturday by THE WEEKLY STANDARD reveal surprising new details about the gender discrimination and wrongful termination lawsuit filed by Christine O'Donnell in 2005 against her former employer, the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, a conservative non-profit based in Delaware.* O'Donnell, who is now challenging moderate congressman Mike Castle in the September 14 Delaware GOP Senate primary, sought $6.95 million in damages. In a court complaint, she extensively detailed the "mental anguish" she suffered after allegedly being demoted and fired because of her gender. And, although she didn't have a bachelor's degree until this year, O'Donnell implied she was taking Master's degree classes at Princeton University in 2003.

O'Donnell alleged in a July 1, 2005 complaint filed in district court that she had been demoted because ISI's conservative philosophy dictated that women must be subordinate to men. She claimed she was fired when she contacted the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission regarding her demotion. ISI told the Delaware News Journal that she had been "terminated for operating a for-profit business."

O'Donnell's finances, honesty, and stability have been called into question in light of her false and strange claims. The court complaint raises further questions on all fronts. O'Donnell, who made an annual salary of $65,000 at ISI as director of communications and public affairs, sought up to $6,952,477 million in damages, claiming, among other allegations, that ISI had defamed her and had violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. O'Donnell sought:

--Up to $3,952,447 in "Direct Damages, including back pay" and "lifetime lost income and liftetime damage to reputation."

everybody who tries to warn about O'Donnell's questionable pass are all just a bunch of RINOs who want Castle to win yada yada yada

This is a relatively new meme at FR.

Anyone who supports Castle is a RINO...

Anyone who supports anyone who supports Castle is a RINO...

Anyone who supports anyone who supports anyone who supports Castle is a RINO...

Anyone who supports anyone who supports anyone who supports anyone who supports Castle is a RINO...

Lather. rinse, repeat until America is populated by 310 million RINOs.

It's getting out of hand.

I think she’d be better than Castle. I just no longer think she has any chance of winning. I hope I’m wrong, especially if she is the nominee.

I’m certain Castle would win if he was the nominee, but then we’d be stuck with Castle until he decided to quit.

What a crock. I'm no Castle fan at all, but O'Donnell would lose my vote based on that. Too much "puffery" and BS "resume enhancement."

Any third choice in the primary besides Castle and O'Donnell?

BTW - Lifetime lost income? What a frivolous damages claim.

no that is boilerplate language in ALL those types of suits.

get over it.

There are phrases used in ALL suits regarding jursdictional amounts, location, jurisdiction, damages etc.

Remember a lawyer signed and produced the complaint.

regardless Castle has a second amendment F.

Castle is a RINO that must go. if this is the best the Cornyn GOP scum can do with 24 hours to go then they are in very bad shape.

The 28% was the 2008 ACU rating score which for all members of congress which was off compared to past ACU scores (and 2009 scores which are back to normal) and other organisations scores.

Castle is the most liberal Republican in the House closer to the average rat than a decent conservative. But he’s more like a 40% conservative (ACU lifetime is 52%). If you look at key issues he’s pretty bad. And worst of all he’s been an outspoken leader of the RINO faction.

It looks like we can’t win here. If this thing about O’Donnell is true, it’s unsettling. As AUh2o said she’s conservative and attractive but possibly a big flake.

Don’t get me wrong I’d still vote for her over Castle if lived there. Frankly should could like to drown innocent kitty cats and she wouldn’t be as bad as King of the RINOs Castle but she’d lose the GE to the rat baring a minor miracle. We lose with her or “win” (aka LOSE) with DIABLO Castle. Lose/lose.

“Let’s remember that this is The Weekly Standard led by New World Order neocons Bill Kristol and Fred Barnes. They are leaders of status quo GOPism.”

Bill Kristol and Fred Barnes were the first two conservative commentators to champion Sarah Palin whom they met during an Alsakan cruise.

I’m sure she can’t be as bad as Castle. That is all I am sure about.

How about the part where she was sued for her undergrad tuition.

I've never been sued for non payment of any bill. I don't vote for deadbeats. But that's just me.

I'm well aware of language in complaints.

Lawyers don't file suits without clients. Lost income is common in damage claims. Lifetime lost income is another story. She was fired for running a non-profit as a profit. Illegalities. If that was mentioned publicly, it was soundly backed up, and they are not afraid of a defamation claim.

I'm not a Castle or Cornyn fan at all, but I don't blindly follow bandwagons either. This battle ain't worth it. I'd rather bring 90 year old Bill Roth back than pick either of these two clowns.

I see a choice between a liberal and a vindictive resume enhancer and shady individual who got caught.

The fact that so many overlook her weakness as a general election candidate is alarming.

0bama was elected the same way. At least in this case there will be a reliable conservative vote in the US Senate. Castle should have declared RAT -- if he were so popular, he would have run and won as a RAT. What does Castle care which party funds his campaign? You have to be highly suspicious of hit pieces coming out a day or so before an election. Castle is clearly calling in all his chits.

Well, uh, golly. No thank you for the snark. And I'll stick to my own opinions.

Even if everything they say about O’Donnell is true,
she should fit right in wonderfully with the DC crowd.

IF everything they say about O’Donnell is TRUE,
don’t expect her to do anything in DC that will not fatten her own bank account!

Not that Castle would be any better. HOW TF did the Tea Party end up with her and not someone who has fewer skeletons? Sounds like she has some real problems.

>> The funny thing about Castle is that he makes John McCain and Lindsey Graham look like right wingers. Let the National Republicans still support this bozo. “According to the ACU (American Conservatives Union), Castle received a 28 out of 100 in 2008 for voting for conservative causes. Suddenly it piked in 2009, not by much. He received a 56. Slightly above half. And a lifetime rating of 52.49. Contrast that to Senator McCain. At least McCain is trying to espouse some conservative bonafides 96 in 2009 and 63 in 2008, with a lifetime rating of 81.97. Lindsey Graham has an 88 rating in 2009, 82 in 2008, and a lifetime rating of 89.68.” <<

Indeed. Facts are stubborn things with some freepers.

Alot of freepers can't stand John McCain & Lindsey Graham, and argued endlessly here they would rather have a Democrat than them in office, refusing to support those Senators after they won the primary.

Yet many of those same freepers now us how we "have to" support FAR worse liberal socialists Mike Castle & Mark Kirk in the general (who do the RATs bidding on most issues!), solely so we can get more Republicans in the Senate.

Either they're totally clueless about where these Senate candidates actually stand on the issues, or they're hypocrites. Take your pick.

“She can’t win in the general, but that’s not what this is about.”

Sure she can. They said the same thing about Reagan.

Mitt is the one who shot himself in the leg with that stupid RomneyCare bill.
