Buchanan & Deutsch: Imprison Pastor To Prevent Koran-Burning

Talk about your strange bedfellows . . .
Both Pat Buchanan and Donny Deutsch have advocated the arrest of Pastor Terry Jones to prevent his possible burning of Korans and the danger to US troops such act would threaten. The paleo-conservative and the New York liberal made common cause on today's Morning Joe. They were outnumbered by Mika Brzezinski, Dan Senor and John Heilemann, all of whom opposed the arrest-the-pastor proposal on First Amendment grounds. Buchanan and Deutsch expressed disregard for the First Amendment implications.
Buchanan asserted that if Pres. Obama were to follow his advice, conservatives would support him and his popularity would zoom 10% overnight.

Pat’s looking like HE’s been hiding out in a cave the past few years.
Nice to see he’s finally given up that whole “sanity” kick.

This is nuts. I’ve never liked either Bill O’Reilly or Pat Buchanan, but their calls for the suppression of free speech in this case are really stunning.

You know, if the stupid media hadn’t given this ridiculous stunt so much press and exposure, there wouldn’t be any “danger” in the first place.

Pat is just getting too old. If they would all just shut up and ignore it. It would die out on its own.

Buchanan and Deutsch propose imprisoning pastor to prevent Koran burning. Ping to Today show list.

The Preacher is separating the Wheat from the Chaff. For Obama to do anything he would have to admit we are really at War.

Say what???
This (now former) Pat supporter, disowns him for this.
What a fascist thing to say. Perhaps the detractors have been right about him.

ACK! I am SO sick of this 'don't incite the muslims' cr@p!
Do these idiots seriously think that if we don't burn the mosque-a-teers handbook, they'll all suddenly become peaceful?
Geesh!

This is exactly what Islam would do, lock people up for their thoughts. Heard this the other day on a local talk show, that they should arrest the Reverand now. We are doomed.

There are a lot of “leaders” who fear that the reaction to the burning of Quorans will expose the myth thay there is only a handful of radical muslims.

I am so glad you posted this. I was just listening to them. No mention that the muslims are the problem and how cartoons and teddy bear names make them murder people. Buchanan is really a raving lunatic. I expected better from him. And I am still waiting for them to bring up the fact that our military burned Bibles and no one complained. And the talk about our soldiers being killed because of this is ludicrous. We are at war and our soldiers are being killed by the enemy, which are muslims, so we shouldn't make our enemies angry? And I bet there are other people out there who are planning on burning korans on 9/11. I would except I refuse to spend money to buy one.

A few years ago the left had no problem with the release of Abu Ghraib photos even though the release would endanger the troops.
Since whem do they care about increased danger to the troops?
All at once some of these people want to imprison an American citizen for breaking no laws in order to protect the troops.
I ain’t buying it. What the government is really scared of is the citizens finding out what a crappy job they have done by letting a ton of jihadis into the US to attack us if they don’t get their way.

I just don't get how so many politicians, religious leaders, commentators, and other personalities who have been jamming the "Islam is a religion of peace" theory down our throats are able to justify now telling us there will be grave consequences to any Koran burning action. Now I know there will be...because that is the nature of the people who read the Koran and practice what Allah has told them about killing the "infidels"...but...
Just how do those who have tried to make us believe in a peaceful Islamic theory now justify trying to scare us about Muslim retaliations? So I ask them...Either Islam is a peaceful religion or it is are NOT...which is it? You can't have it both ways.

At the end of the video clip you’ll see Heilemann make a related argument to his fellow liberal Deutsch, asking if he would have favored the prohibition of the publication of the Abu Ghraib photos.
