Taking Ted Kennedy's seat was pretty amazing.
Taking Byrd's seat would be wonderful.
And I hope Harry Reid gets sent packing as well.

well this would be nice
is Raese able to self fund? lord knows the RNC cant shell out the cash this year.
it would be awesome if Reid went down we picked up this seat and literally swept the rest WI, WA, IL, DE, CA, FL and the rest

West Virginia Dems as a group are unusually lacking in party loyalty. Very big chunks have voted GOP in the recent past.

Has West Virgina had their primary? I thought I remembered a female running for the GOP?

A well-known sitting governor with an admiring press gets 48%? He’s definitely on the bubble.

West Virginia has been voting Dem out of habit. This is the year to change that. The old New Deal dems are pretty much passed away now.

This is one of the 3 or 4 seats that Santorum claims will need to be sworn is ASAP post the election. With that said, they are the block against Cloture and the shenanigans of a lame duck session.

My take on the Senate, we could pick up between 8 to 14, here they the ones in play IMHO, and are really possible, i.e. Retiring Dems, Died in Office i.e. Byrd, Spectre, etc.

My guess is the Dems know they will loose the house and will throw everything to save these below. The Unions will poney up the dough and get bupkis in terms of a return on their investment, voters are that pi$$ed.

Note these are all Republican pickups, not a Republican replacing a Republican Seat.

1.) California, Fiorina,
2.) Colorado, Buck
3.) IL, Kirk,
4.) Nevada, Angle
5.) Washington, Rossi,
6.) Wisconsin, Johnson
7.) Connecticut, McMahon,
8.) PA, Toomey,
9.) Delaware, Christine O'Donnell
10.) Arkansas, Boozman
11.) North Dakota, Hoeven

The long shots...

1.) OR, Hoffman over Widen
2.) West Virgina, the Byrd Seat, Raese
3 & 4.) The NY seats, Gillibrand and Schumer

Video: W.Va. Governor Joe Manchin Endorses Obamacare, Praises Obama

http://tinyurl.com/25dspyc

During a March 15 panel on health care at the National Governors Association in Washington, Manchin said that he would vote for the health care bill if he were a congressman. The panel’s moderator, journalist Karen Tumulty, asked Manchin and other governors on the panel, “If you were a House member ... and you’ve got your choice: vote up on the Senate bill or vote down on the Senate bill, how do you vote?”

“I’d be for it,” Manchin replied. “You have to move this ball forward. ... I have never, since I’ve been in the legislative process, and since I have been governor, I have never got a perfect bill.”

Manchin went on to praise Obama—who has a 35 percent approval rating in West Virginia, according to Rasmussen—for devoting so much time and energy to passing the health care bill:

This would be a very important win, because the winner takes office as soon as the election is confirmed. Picking up the special election senate seats would allow Republicans to have a better chance at blocking the DemocRATS’ agenda of a lame duck session.

Charlie Cook et al had this one in the far left column (SAFE DEM).

This is now a lean Dem at best.
