In the first Rasmussen Reports post-primary survey of West Virginias U.S. Senate race, Democratic Governor Joe Manchin attracts 48% of the vote while Republican businessman John Raese earns 42%.

bttt
If the republicans do win his seat the dems will go boohoo about how it dishonors Byrd’s legacy....lol!
and isnt there some talk of Manchin under Fed investigation.
OH BE STILL my beating heart...Hot Damn!!!
Now if we could just get O’Donnell in DE past Castle and take VP Byte Me’s seat.
well this would be nice
is Raese able to self fund? lord knows the RNC cant shell out the cash this year.
it would be awesome if Reid went down we picked up this seat and literally swept the rest WI, WA, IL, DE, CA, FL and the rest
West Virginia Dems as a group are unusually lacking in party loyalty. Very big chunks have voted GOP in the recent past.
“Taking Ted Kennedy’s seat was pretty amazing.
Taking Byrd’s seat would be wonderful.
And I hope Harry Reid gets sent packing as well. “
Add Barbara Boxer to the list.
We won’t have to call her “Senator” any more.
Has West Virgina had their primary? I thought I remembered a female running for the GOP?
A well-known sitting governor with an admiring press gets 48%? He’s definitely on the bubble.
Primary was this last Saturday...
West Virginia has been voting Dem out of habit. This is the year to change that. The old New Deal dems are pretty much passed away now.
The Republican has only to show wind turbines with a voice
over that this is Obama’s view of the future!
My take on the Senate, we could pick up between 8 to 14, here they the ones in play IMHO, and are really possible, i.e. Retiring Dems, Died in Office i.e. Byrd, Spectre, etc.
My guess is the Dems know they will loose the house and will throw everything to save these below. The Unions will poney up the dough and get bupkis in terms of a return on their investment, voters are that pi$$ed.
Note these are all Republican pickups, not a Republican replacing a Republican Seat.

Video: W.Va. Governor Joe Manchin Endorses Obamacare, Praises Obama
During a March 15 panel on health care at the National Governors Association in Washington, Manchin said that he would vote for the health care bill if he were a congressman. The panel’s moderator, journalist Karen Tumulty, asked Manchin and other governors on the panel, “If you were a House member ... and you’ve got your choice: vote up on the Senate bill or vote down on the Senate bill, how do you vote?”
“I’d be for it,” Manchin replied. “You have to move this ball forward. ... I have never, since I’ve been in the legislative process, and since I have been governor, I have never got a perfect bill.”
Manchin went on to praise Obama—who has a 35 percent approval rating in West Virginia, according to Rasmussen—for devoting so much time and energy to passing the health care bill:
Rossi winning in WA is still a long shot.
1. The Conservatives here in WA are morons as a group. Individually, they’re what you’d expect, but as a group they are all thumbs.
2. WA is a Soviet, not a state, and it is run top to bottom by the unions, and for the most part they count the votes.
3. Liberals here hit until they’re happy. If the count is close, the liberal wins via recount. You have to win by about 4% here to be safe. Not at all a level playing field.
Go Raese! Officially now in play!
He’s got a ways to go as Manchin’s still at 48 percent.
This would be a very important win, because the winner takes office as soon as the election is confirmed. Picking up the special election senate seats would allow Republicans to have a better chance at blocking the DemocRATS’ agenda of a lame duck session.
LMAO!!
Charlie Cook et al had this one in the far left column (SAFE DEM).
This is now a lean Dem at best.
