WASHINGTON An enormous and impassioned crowd rallied at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on Saturday, summoned by Glenn Beck, a conservative broadcaster who called for a religious rebirth in America at the site where the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his famous I Have a Dream speech 47 years ago to the day.
Something that is beyond man is happening, Mr. Beck said in opening the event as the crowd thronged near the memorial grounds. America today begins to turn back to God.
It was part religious revival, part history lecture, as Mr. Beck invoked the founding fathers and the black-robed regiment of pastors of the Revolutionary War and spoke of American exceptionalism.

Officials do not make crowd estimates because they are unreliable and can be controversial, but event organizers put the number of attendees at 500,000; NBC News said it was closer to 300,000, but by any measure it was a large turnout. The crowd stretched from the Lincoln Memorial to the Washington Monument.

Bizarre is when an , errr, "christian" such as yourself can't support a rally for restoring America's honor and principles. You are part of the problem.
I love how people think that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (the Mormons) is not a Christian church. it shows you know very little about the religion. Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of the religion. The Book of Mormon refers to Jesus Christ more than the Bible does. Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is our Savior and that only through Him and His atonement can we return to our Heavenly Father. How is that not Christian? And saying that Glenn Beck joined the church only because of his wife is a slam on Beck.
I heard a reporter on NPR describe the crowd as “scores”.
It was NOT a Tea Party gathering in any shape, manner or form. Once again, the NYT is full of poop!
So tragically sad.
Please.
Jesus Christ was born, lived and died on the cross as a "Jew". Those that follow His teachings and believe in Christ and God the Creator do not belong to one specific "church".
“The mormons are nice folks......but they are not Christian.”
I spend winters in the area with the second largest concentration of Mormons in the world. I know dozens and they all think and consider themselves to be Christians.
I believe many think the MSM to be devils incarnate.
CBS Atlanta just said there were “almost 100,000” at the rally, then spent 5 minutes talking about the Sharpton rally which they estimated at “thousands”.
I knew I should have changed the channel after the game ended.
The Book of Mormon refers to Jesus Christ more than the Bible does.

When the "Million Man March" came to DC they claimed 2 million people. They did NOT even fill the Mall. the Mall, that space defined as the squares between the Capital Building and the Washington Memorial when filled to capacity is 750,000 people.
The Promise Keepers march did the following, it filled the Mall COMPLETELY, overflowed to the sides and then if you look at the aerial shot it clearly shows over 1/3 rd of the Ellipse around the Washington Monument as being covered.
The Parks Police (The only "official counter")Stopped counting after Farrakhan made his lies about their count of his march being BELOW 1 million?
Its a ruse. Numbers are GENERATED to bring validity and are indicative of NOTHING in this regard.
Million Man March
Promise Keepers 1997
Now look at the following.
This is a photo of Obama's crowd at 1200 on the day of his inauguration. There was a crowd of possibly 750000. They claimed 1.8 million.
For the Promise keepers march the Ellipse is 1/3rd covered, and the Mall is packed and overflowing.
Added to this, Promise Keepers march back in 97 did not have even 1/10th the trash on it after the march UNLIKE the MMM and Obama's Inauguration.
Clearly this Restoring Honor March was less than Promise Keepers in 97, but more than the MMM and more than Obamas inauguration in 2009.
Were the nyt editors drunk? This is actually a rather fair and positive story. Kudos to the author.
It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.
The mormons...they all think and consider themselves to be Christians.

But they are not...
Thinking and considering oneself something when the qualifications are entirely different doesnt make one that particular thing...
Mormonism is not Christianity...
Get over it.
Many different religions consider themselves to be the “one true religion” or the “universal” church or otherwise divinely inspired as being superior to others.
The theological debates should not detract from a non-denominational, non-political rally dedicated to American values.
The left don’t “like” Islam, it’s just that the enemy of my enemy is my friend and both the left and Islam hate America more than anything - hence you get leftist feminist groups supporting Islam, etc. The left and Islam will use each other for their own purposes(destroying America) and then turn on each other.
“Beck was a Catholic; a member of the True Church and he turned his back to join a cult.”
The Catholic church is not, nor has it ever been, the True Church (There...how do you like it?).
The DUmmies are having conniptions over at the DUmp after someone posted the NBC news estimate of 300,000. Poor little DUmmie-wummies, their Pal Rev. Al got his clock cleaned by Evil Genius Glenn Beck today ;-)
