Sen. Jim DeMint: Perfect Pro-Gun Prez Candidate for 2012
GOA ^ | 25 August, 2010 | Tim Macy

Posted on 08/27/2010 11:52:08 AM PDT by marktwain

When pro-gun voters across America look for potential candidates for President in 2012, they may want to place one prominent name on the short list -- Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina.

Why DeMint?

First, pro-gunners, and Conservatives in general, want a candidate who would rather be back home, working at their chosen profession or business, but realizes they must run because of the current state of affairs in our nation. In other words, a candidate who runs not because of ego, but out of true concern for America.

Next, we should be looking for someone who has an A+ voting record on the Second Amendment.

Third, a candidate who understands that Republicans lost control of the U.S. Senate and House under George W. Bush because they didn’t act like Republicans.

And fourth, a candidate who understands America is a free nation that welcomes all religions, but knows we were founded on and grounded in Christian principles.

When Jim DeMint first ran for office, he was a successful businessman who saw there was trouble in our nation and wanted to help. When he was elected to Congress, he got the usual treatment by the “good-ol-boy” network in Congress, where he was told to go along with the Republican leadership and the “leadership agenda” in order to get along. DeMint tried that for a while and found no comfort in what was happening. He was truly leaning toward leaving the Congress and going back to work in the private sector, but Jim knew this would not help fix America.

So, Jim DeMint ran for the U.S. Senate and won. After a while he began to realize he must break away from the positions of the Republican leadership, who were proving every day that they were just as good as the Democrats at promoting their own earmarks, caving in, spending like drunken sailors and wasting Americans money.

From what we do know, we believe him to be a humble man who makes good decisions based on facts and logic, not personal ego. Ah, just the type of Presidential candidate Americans are looking for.

DeMint has formed his own Conservative Political Action Committee to help Conservative, pro-gun candidates win in key races all over America with one goal in mind – to bring this nation back from the brink of economic and moral disaster.

If this guy has the guts to take on the leadership of his own party in the United States Senate, you can be sure he has the guts to protect your guns, to cut waste and abuse in government, and to nominate Supreme Court Justices who will protect the Constitution, not re-write it.

Of this you can be sure: Jim DeMint does NOT walk on water . . . there’s no doubt he has his flaws, as do all of us. But his actions point to someone who is not involved in politics to promote Jim DeMint. He’s doing it to protect America and our future as the greatest nation in history.

Every pro-gunner and Conservative who will actually take the time and make the effort to vote in 2010 and 2012 should pick up a copy of DeMint’s book, Saving Freedom, and you’ll get a good idea of the man and his commitment to America.

When you’re done reading his book, you’ll know why Jim DeMint should be on the “short-list” of Presidential candidates for 2012.

DeMint is impressive. Smart, savvy and conservative. He has left the door open for a run but denies running. I would like to see him visit Iowa which is, to me, the single best early indicator of plans to run.

How personal? What are you driving at, eh?

Easily one of the three best senators in America. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma and Jeff Sessions of Alabama are the other two.

I don't recall that anybody said DeMint's position was better than Sarah Palin's position. Did you read a different article?

Sessions should go to the Supreme Court! He is super bright and uses what he was given. Sen. DeMint is a battlewagon who can go toe to toe with any of the slick talking Demorats and deck them!

He has never suppoted Cap and Trade, the Law of the Sea Treaty and TARP for starters. DeMint is one of the most consistent conservatives out there I would really like to see him run.

Palin/DeMint or DeMint/Palin is my dream ticket in 2012. Seriously. They align on almost every issue, are both very politically savy, both have motivated support bases, and they’d work well together. Also, Senator plus Governor is strong, and their geography is good.

He seems to be a good Senator that might be angling for a position as veep on a Mitt Romney ticket.

Anything has got to be better than the jack legged vapor we have as president now.

I’ll keep up with DeMint now.

Consider how this man has in his first term of office catapulted himself into a position of major voice for the Conservative movement. That speaks to leadership quality to me. HIs positions are measured and thoughtful. I could support his candidacy in a heart beat.

We have a few more months before the scrum begins for the Presidency and, we are thankful, there are several solid, viable Conservative candidates. sd

MITT is a loser! He can not win. I’ll sit on my hands before voting for a “Mass-hole” like him!

That dog of a ticket better not even come out from under the porch -- total non-starter w/Mitt anywhere on the ticket. I would be very excited by DeMint on the ticket as long as the other part of the ticket is not Demo-lite and can bring an energized segment of voters.
