If they told Beck's organizers they anticipate 500,000, I would give credence to that estimate.
As someone explained earlier on the thread. The Reflecting Pool area in front of the Lincoln Memorial and the adjacent open field can hold a combined 500,000 or more according to the Park Service. They know the capacity of each permitted area for public gatherings and use that as a guide for granting permits for events.
