Miller concerned Murkowski will 'pull an Al Franken'
The Hill ^ | 08/27/10 | Jordan Fabian

Joe Miller, the Republican candidate who is poised to knock off Sen. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) in a primary contest, said Thursday he is concerned she will launch a protracted legal battle to save her seat.

Miller, an Iraq war veteran who received the backing of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), emerged from the election Tuesday night with a narrow lead over Murkowski, an incumbent who assumed the seat from her father.

But officials are still counting absentee ballots in the close race and a lawyer for the GOP Senate campaign committee is heading to Alaska to assist the senator.

"We are looking right now to make sure that the election - that the votes - are accounted for fairly, without any type of game play," Miller said in an interview on Fox Business Network. "It concerns us any time somebody lawyers up and tries to pull an Al Franken, if you will. We are very concerned that there may be some attempt here to skew the results."

Voter fraud is growing RAMPANT. He should be concerned.

Also we need to start letting politicians know WE’RE NOT GOING TO STAND FOR CHEATING!

Franken should LOSE HIS SEAT! He won’t, so politicians have just learned that they can get away with it.

THIS NEEDS TO STOP NOW!

Exactly right! Miller will fight this RINO swine to the end and win.

I think you have a point about the whining. What do you mean when you wrote he is a carpetbagger?.

She will if she gets the chance — and the RNC will help her. Though they wouldn’t lift a finger to help Norm Coleman PREVENT Al Franken’s theft of HIS Senate seat in Minnesota.

Pathetic, no?

A little searching on the web told me he is a recent resident of Alaska, as of 1995. He has law degrees and moved up really fast as a judge.

Anyway, he’s certainly shown he’s not burdened with classiness, in comparing Murkowski to Al Franken. He also tweeted re Murkowski, just a few hours ago, “What’s the difference between selling out your party’s values and the oldest profession?”

He is also the one who started the rumor that Murkowski will run Libertarian (if the final count is not in her favor). It’s been touted as fact by people out there and on this forum, who cannot document the claim.

I look at this a couple different ways.

One, I think by making a preemptive statement, Miller brings a spotlight on the process and sends a warning message to some of the Beltway types (and possibly Alaskan machine politicos) who just may have a vested interest in Murkowski pulling it out. In a race this close, it would be unwise to let one’s guard down or leave things to chance.

Two, there is Reagan’s 11th commandment: “Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican”. Miller could have dialed the rhetoric back a bit and still made his concerns known. Invoking Al Franken was red meat for some of his supporters, but probably is going to leave a bad taste with some others.

Overall, though, I’d say it is net plus for Miller.

Invocating the name of Al Franken will result in unnecessary turmoil...
I don't know if invocating will, but I am pretty sure that invoking will :^)

Libertarians are RINOs?

RINO stands for

Republican
In
Name
Only

Libertarians are not Republican In Name. They’re Libertarians, not Republicans.

2 different parties with 2 different Names. Libertarian Party and Republican Party.

I completely agree. Nothing wrong with his statements, and it sheds light on what the potential for voter fraud this could become.

Go Joe!

We need to make sure that going forward a ‘Franken’ is crybaby, bullying, weaselly, manipulation in an attempt to gain undeservedly.

Satire will kill that petty-satirist.

His name should be a byword for bratty larceny forever.

you said:

The statement was vague and not enough context given. It could even better be a plea to Libertarians to not sell their ballot spot for $1 million as has been rumored LM would give them. In fact, the statement really does make more sense this way. So, do we know for sure that a) Miller tweeted this (he says he did not, a staffer did) and b) the prostitute reference applies to LM? As far as the Libertarian rumor, do we know that Joe just made this up out of nothing? Maybe someone in the LM camp has floated it? If so, why isnt Joe allowed to call out the LM camp, and LM herself she ostensibly controls her staffers?

Miller apologized for the tweet on behalf of the staffer. The rumors and speculation do not belong exclusively to one side or the other. I think it is unfair to state on such flimsy evidence that Joe Miller is not classy. By all means let’s make sure the “classier” candidate who wastes billions of taxpayer dollars, finesses Obamacare etc, and got a 50% rating from DeMint’s committee gets all the respect she deserves.

We need to OWN the GOP from the caucus level on up. We will never win important races with Big Tent RINOs in charge. Conservatives need to learn how to get political...Because the Dems and the RINO class is playing for keeps. Either we fight or we will be destroyed... Molon Labe!

Your response to the article I posted is the one which I identify with the most since we both are registered Democrats.

I have not voted for a Democrat for POTUS or any Federal office (Senate, House of REP) in over 3 decades. however I believe in maintaining a civil dialog.

Miller can only hurt himself and the Tea Party Movement by doing otherwise. As a U.S. Senator he may find it advantageous to be civil to members of the loyal opposition.

The way you do that is:

1. Challenge RINOs like Lindsey Graham, SC in the GOP primary when their term is up.

2. Maintain a civil dialog while advocating a change in both policy and platforms of the GOP. No name calling. Leave AL FRANKEN out of it.

3. Remember that the Tea Party was launched as a grass root movement in response to the power grab of the Democrats in DC and elsewhere.

Way too late. You need to control the nomination process so Poofda Grahm never sees a nomination. Waiting for the primary is way too late. The big money comes out and keeps him in power.

Civil dialog? Right...

I find DeMint’s non endorsements far more troubling than the positive ones he’s made. Miller, Haley... did he endorse Rossi or Didier?

The only positive to come out of a Murkowski steal is the very point Sarah has been making since she left the governorship: it's time to get rid of the establishment, entitlement elite republicans (RINOS). Her reason for leaving- to fight the good fight in every state and the nation- is proven if Murkowski steals the election.

It will only further ignite an already blazing fire of change.
