Television reporter John Stossel has told how he got government insurance "dirt cheap" to insure a home only a hundred feet from the ocean. Eventually, the ocean moved in and did a lot of damage, but the taxpayer-subsidized insurance covered the costs of fixing it. Four years later, the ocean came in again, and this time it took out the whole house. But the taxpayer-subsidized government insurance paid to replace the whole house.

I spoke to a woman a few years back who lives in an area that floods when a hurricane comes within 90 miles. I asked how she dealt with the problem - she loved it. Said she likes to redecorate anyhow and this gives her the chance to do it on insurance money.

The man is just brilliant. We definitely have the wrong black president in place. Can you imaging the left wing outcry if Thomas Sowell were the Republican nominee for President? The gnashing of teeth? Who wants to bet he wouldn’t get 98% of the black vote?

In a sane world, Sowell’s voice would be heard loud and clear and he would be on the editorial page of every paper.

We are having some work done on our house, and most of the workmen are self-employed. A couple of them have gotten sick, and one of them told me that self-employed people heal much faster than those who have sick leave courtesy of their employees. :-)

Another wonderful excerpt from the mind of Thomas Sowell. If you have read his books there is nothing new here but it sometimes is better to give people smaller doses so it can be digested and internalized so to speak. What a great man. I wish he were younger so we could benefit from his mind longer.
