I and others have written extensively about the wolf reintroduction program and the destruction it has caused since the first 60 were released into Yellowstone Park and Idaho in 1995. What we are attempting to do with these articles is to wake up as many people as possible about the danger the left has put Americans in.
There is a Wolf Cult in America that has convinced many Americans that it would be a good thing to have wild wolves as neighbors in our local parks. Well I for one, and many like me, do not wish to be confronted by a wolf when we decide to go fishing or camping. Especially since the wolves that are being introduced into our parks, like to roam in packs. So if you see one you can bet the farm there are more lurking around near by.
Gate was given permission to post, in whole, an article written by T. R. Mader, the Research Director of AWS which is an independent research organization. Mader has researched wolf history for more than 15 years before he wrote this article. He has since traveled extensively as he continues conducting research and interviews on environmental issues.
Mader wrote this article at the height of furor over the wolf re-introduction program in 1995 & 96. It's my hope that by posting this, many of you will have a better understanding of the anger many ranchers, farmers, hunters, and even regular small town city folk have with a program that has proved to be everything those against the program warned about some 15 years ago.
Due to the length of the article, it has been divided into three parts, and instead of creating three separate posts on FR, I have created three links below for you to follow if you so desire to read the article, "Myths, Legends, & Misconceptions of the Wolf".
Part 1- Misconceptions 1 to 6
Part 2 - Misconceptions 7 to 12
Part 3 - Conclusion & Bibliography
We have more than 100,000 of them in the county. If they were moving back and forth from the surrounding counties that'd be considered one of the great wild game movements in the world ~ the sort of thing tourists would come to see.
I do not even want to go into the diseases they bring.Rabies being at the top.

Both wolfs and coyotes are a problem in NM and IIRC I read that 40% of coyotes here are infected with plague. My daughter contracted bubonic plague back in the ‘80’s and thankfully lived but you know I’m no fan of predatory vector hosts. We shoot the wiley b@%tard%!
I need to leave for a bit, but I will be back in about 40 minutes. Then we can continue this if you wish.
I really do not want to continue insulting you, and I do apologize because I do get very passionate about this subject. So please forgive me for being so harsh.
However, I do want you to understand that you do not want wolves added to your area. Increasing the hunters ability to kill the overpopulated deer for food will do.
Believe me when I say it works. It has been proven to work every time it has been tried. Their is evidence to back up my point.
There is also evidence to back up my point that you do not want the wolves added to your area. There is thousands of documented cases of known tragedies that could have been avoided if we did not increase the number of wolves in any area for the purpose of animal ie. elk, deer, moose, regulation. Or for that matter wolf re-population due to the liberal leftists lie of possible wolf extinction.
And we are not talking about Dire Wolves.
The thesis is the wolves can (at some point, maybe not today) be controlled and allowed to kill deer in people's backyards.
Being wolves they have no need to fear trespass laws, they also don't make loud noises, break windows, bust nails out of plasterboard, and so on.
There is no open hinterland around here. This place is pretty much high density urban development right up to the county line, and much of that along Prince William County is equally urbanized.
If you want to experience life where folks are running around apartment buildings and townhouses using firearms you go over to Prince Georges county Maryland ~ they do that there all the time. Not a day goes by there hasn't been some stupid shooting somewhere.
Wolves would be safer to have than letting any of those people around.
Hmm...they could introduce some wolves to Gitmo...lots of prey there.....
You brain dead? I have a wall full of deer mounts.
Considering you brought the whole thing down to the EVIL JOOS there can be no other conclusion than you're a complete idiot.
I( was bringing your attention to “muawiyah” who thinks hunters are not needed to cull the deer herds, but wolves are.
Sorry for the mix up, buy like I said I was just bringing his idiocy to the attention of you and others who agree with me.
There is a company that specializes in quietly removing deer from towns and villages.
They come in at night, use special night scopes, silenced rifles of .50 Whisperer caliber, and shoot every deer they see.
The deer are hauled to a special processing trailer and butchered. the next day, no one knows they have been there except the city managers who have hired them.
Sounds like a reasonable and very community safe plan to me.
Maybe you should give a heads up to the many liberals on this blog who think setting wolves loose to kill the deer would be great idea.
I never knew there would be so many liberals on FreeRepublic, but then again America isn’t even a capitalist country anymore.
Silly me.
Works well here and the meat is donated to food pantries. No downside.
They don't want to see archery hunters? Well they'll see dead deer spread all over the road and coming through Mommy's windshield.
We have enough problems here with coyotes, don't want to see bigger canines that run in packs.
You’re out in open country. We have something like downtown Houston.
Probably should have said that the coyotes would probably not join packs because the environment itself is not conducive to that behavior ~ too much traffic, too many people, too many dogs, noise, birds, cars, planes, trashcans ~ all that stuff.
They are definitely getting over their shyness around humans and will come down in your yard to eat your meat animals running around loose.
We are using our cars to guide their evolution.
Folks studying how wild animals find their way across the landscape have determined they use animal trails, where available, and human roads and trails where available.
These animals are dangerous.
Why not?
Too much development. There are no clear shots anywhere in the valley now.
You got it.
I think we should just starve them out ~ have a year go by where no one plants any flowers, veggies, or grass. Just "round up" the whole county and let 'em starve.
Alternatively, electronically controlled wolves (wired up like predator drones) traveling from yard to yard, effortlessly jumping over fences would be able to kill them more humanely than that.
I don't think you understand when a city has a situation where there's a deer walking around for every 9 people.
It's getting tight, and smells like deer poop.
