PHOENIX (AP) - Both were once considered vulnerable but recently have found stronger footing in their Republican primary races.
Now, Arizona Sen. John McCain and Gov. Jan Brewer will campaign together at six events in five communities on Friday and Saturday.

Indeed we do not. That angry pic of him, and the tirade on the senate floor during amnesty was mild.
I'm going to be sick... I mean, you're right about all of that. Can't I have one politician hero for more than a few months though... :0) I sure wasn't planning to vote for her before 1070.
Outstanding, love your post, Kate.
I'll go on record with the prediction that in three years we'll see a prop on the ballot promising to 'Save education without raising taxes!' that will extend (or make permenant) this 'temporary' 20% tax hike.
Prop 100 didn't magically make more money appear in consumer's pockets. It simply spread what was already there thinner. Consumers are now buying fewer goods and services than they could have without it. This means more money going to State sponsored social programs and less going to businesses that could otherwise be providing new jobs with it.
It isn't a bridge over 'troubled fiscal waters' - it's a tunnel leading straight down into its depths.
Hayworth is down 30 pts in the RCP polling average. The dude is toast. Quit wasting prime real estate at FR on these posts - they smack more of Hayworth press releases than actual thought provoking stuff that spurs meaningful discussion.
“Of course she’s a RINO, she pushed the 1% tax increase, before SB1070 she didn’t stand a chance in h*ll of winning. Dean Martin was the conservative’s pick. Jan is ahead because she signed SB1070 and we all figure we have to elect her because she has become the face of fighting illegal immigration. “
I think you nailed it, McGavin.
Yes, exactly. There is no such thing as a “temporary” tax. And in Tucson they already have their greedy leftist paws stuck out for November, “for the [illegal alien] children” and cops.
Although we just gave them more money in sales taxes. If their latest scheme goes through, Tucson, one of the biggest dumps around will have over a 9.6% sales tax, one of the highest in the country.
But if we don’t give in, just like with Brewer’s tax, we’ll all die because the “first-responders” won’t respond, the youth will be on the streets like animals, and the city will crumble. On and on with their threats.
I'm not in Arizona, but something that has been in the back of my mind since it happened is that Brewer delayed about a full week before signing 1070, and there was no clear expectation of whether she would sign it, or not. It seems her political history had not provided any clear indication whether she would sign it or not.
The rest is history, but as I've said earlier in this thread, I wonder what her position on the millions of illegals already in the US is?
For all those who don’t realize it by now the purpose of the Arizona law that’s now tied up in court limbo was to get your panties in a wad to support McCain and Brewer in the August 24th primary.
Do you think the trickery is going to work???????
I still have some hope that the Arizona grass roots will somehow come through for us. Even some of the KFYI talk hosts are pushing McCain in our faces seemingly to have forgiven him all his dirty deeds of the past. Very discouraging to say the least.
“Any and every Republican who supports McAmnesty in this primary is a RINO traitor!”
Let’s see now - recent poll says 65% of Arizonans support SB1070 which all agree is strong on border enforcement. Latest Rocky Mtn. poll of 7/14/10 says 64 to 19 McCain. AZ registration is 1.137M GOP, 1.046M Demcraps, 20k Libertarians, and 4k Green party. Looks like you’re calling a lot of people who are strong on immigration and going to vote for McCain RINO traitors. I suspect a lot of them would call you an idiot. You are hereby disqualified at describing who is a RINO and who is not. This constant RINO whining is bordering on derangement.
JD is history, and your going ballistic calling everyone in sight a RINO isn’t gonna change that. Man up; belly up to the bar; get over it; start going after the Kenyan instead of being a fellow traveler for him.
.
My guess is that Brewer is tied in to the secure the border first, then will fall in step with McCain on the legalizing of the 20 million or so that are here. I haven’t heard her speak about it and that alone is telling me she doesn’t have anything else in mind. If she did have something good to offer she would have thrown it out into the ring I would think.
Well BQ, if she continues to push for border security and doesn’t end up pushing for “comprehensive immigration reform” she’ll be OK. However, just did say the “c” word (comprehensive) the other day and it sent a chill down my spine. I know McCain will work on her, I’m just hoping there are enough level headed people around her to keep her on the right track.
Don’t apologize Kate, that was a wonderful run down of the situation.
If the McCain campaign is worth its salt, they would have been on the phone numerous times trying to get Palin to make another appearance, especially when Palin returned to AZ to appear with Brewer.

You can do a lot of damage with a $20 million dollar slush fund. JD has been smeared non-stop every day since BEFORE he even announced.
I don't know if JD will be able to pull it off or not, but even if he doesn't he made that old fool run like crazy and commit to some things that will utterly destroy his "legacy" one way or the other.
Like I stated in my earlier post, they both are sticking with it to get elected, then McCain and co. will give the stamp of approval on a "secured" border and move back into his amnesty mode asap.
It's a danged if we do and danged if we don't situation because the illegal problem is so bad here we feel we need to do whatever we can to possibly get SOMETHING done before they pull the rug out from under us.
As an example of just bad it is getting for us in all areas of our State....two weeks ago I came out of a store that is right outside our Sun City West "compound", glanced around the parking lot as I usually do as I walked to my car, beeped it open, got in and immediately locked my doors and was just putting the key in the ignition when out of nowhere there appeared two Mexicans. I judged them to be around their mid twenties. They started pounding on my car windows with their fists yelling something in Spanish at me...one on the passenger side and one on my driver's side. I started up the car and they continued pounding and yelling all the while I backed out of my parking spot and when I straightened out to drive away they were both standing there giving me the "bird" and still yelling at me.
I have my "diamond" birthday coming up next week, so were these guys looking for an "old" lady for a possible car jack? I wasn't about to hang around to find out!
Oh no.
