John Kerry - A One-Man 'Benedict Arnold' Corporation
Wall Street Journal ^ | July27,2010 | John Fund

Posted on 07/27/2010 9:07:19 AM PDT by Hojczyk

"Let's not get silly here." That was Senator John Kerry's response Friday to questions about his new $7 million yacht, Isabel, which last week was berthed in Rhode Island rather than in Mr. Kerry's home state of Massachusetts. In doing so, Mr. Kerry will save almost $500,000 a year in taxes.

I think you will find that this is his wife’s yacht and as a private citizen well we know the rules.

While Kerry is a hypocrite at any level, the boat is not his nor are the several mansions he lives in.

Exactly. He’s so typical, though, of wealthy liberal politicians who protect their own wealth from taxes in novel ways, while taxing/taking from the not rich high wage earners, thus blocking them from ever achieving personal wealth. He is a hypocrite and that is clear to all.

He’s also a lying traitor fake war hero (did you know, he went to Vietnam)./s

Anyone that doesn’t use all legal means to avoid taxes is either stupid or a fool!

Agreed. Anyone who does not get around paying these “taxation without representation” taxes is more or less stupid. I can’t stand Kerry at all but would do the same thing if I were in his shoes. So would any of you out there, come on be honest about it.

And would you ALSO become a member of Congress and use your power to create massive additional amounts of “taxation without representation” taxes and fund ever increasing armies of armed tax collectors to go after them, WHILE you were also "getting around paying" yourself?

Come on, be honest about it.

The question is:

If one spends less than three months in a given state at a time or per year, of what state is one a citizen?

I can’t stand Kerry at all but would do the same thing if I were in his shoes.

The difference is, Kerry never met a tax increase he didn't like. So the hypocrisy is that he advocates for taxes on everyone else, then he does anything he can not to pay them himself.

Agree, for the general public we should all take every attempt. One could not, in any sense, describe Kerry as a “regular” citizen. He is, and has been, a male “easy rider” who came by his “wealth” by gigolo-ing his way through life. The fact that he has self-righteously supported the tax and spend liberal agenda, which depends again, on “other people’s money” and at the same time blatantly goes out of his way to NOT pay taxes (and on a conspicuously elitist yacht, a sailing yacht, la di da)— this makes him part of the liberal elite. He is not “one of us” conservatives who believe taxes hold back the success and progress of independent small business people and entrepreneurs. Kerry is the poster boy, along with Chris Dodd of this elitist class of self righteous thieves. Kerry’s actions speak loudly to the working conservatives of this country- who are largely out of work now.

His flunky said that he wasn’t really docking the boat in RI; just putting it there for long-term maintenance.

Long-term maintenance. Long-term. Meaning that, for a very long time, his own state won’t get the jobs that the maintenance of the boat will need, nor the income taxes that those jobs will generate, or the other spinoff business those incomes will help sustain.

And, he’s going to charter the boat. So, no doubt he’ll be able to deduct the maintenance costs as a business expense.

Way to bring the pork to Mass, John.

Kerry is a blow-boater...by definition it's not a swift boat.

Yes, I will be honest. No I would not do that. I would never run for office to start with. I’m interested in politics but would never want to be a politician. Now, have you ever lied or cheated on your tax return? Come on now, we all have at one time or another.
