I think you will find that this is his wife’s yacht and as a private citizen well we know the rules.

While Kerry is a hypocrite at any level, the boat is not his nor are the several mansions he lives in.

Anyone that doesn’t use all legal means to avoid taxes is either stupid or a fool!

His flunky said that he wasn’t really docking the boat in RI; just putting it there for long-term maintenance.

Long-term maintenance. Long-term. Meaning that, for a very long time, his own state won’t get the jobs that the maintenance of the boat will need, nor the income taxes that those jobs will generate, or the other spinoff business those incomes will help sustain.

And, he’s going to charter the boat. So, no doubt he’ll be able to deduct the maintenance costs as a business expense.

Way to bring the pork to Mass, John.

From the article:
"No, but there's a smell of hypocrisy. In addition to sailing around the tax issue, Mr. Kerry chose to build his boat in New Zealand at a time when Bay State boat builders are having trouble keeping their work force employed. "I'm confident that anything constructed in New Zealand could be constructed here in the state," Gregory Egan, who owns the Crosby Yacht Yard in Osterville, told the Boston Herald. Others noted that the Isabel was specially designed to be piloted without a crew -- letting Mr. Kerry scrimp on employment costs and payroll taxes."

Because Massachusetts has decided to grant a lot of social services like health care, they have high taxes. They think that this helps the impoverished. However, because of these high taxes, jobs are moved somewhere else, like New Zealand. This means that countless local jobs are destroyed or just not created by Massachusetts' tax policy. Kerry has done us a favor by giving us a perfect, real world example of why government spending and taxes hurts the impoverished, rather than helps them.

Mass loses one, possibly two, congressional districts after this census, so opportunities for Mass dems are shrinking..I suspect that as his poll numbers worsen, he will face a primary next time he runs..
