Senator John McCain has opened a 20-point lead over former Congressman J.D. Hayworth in Arizonas Republican Senate Primary race.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely GOP Primary Voters in the state shows McCain attracting 54% of the vote, while Hayworth earns 34%.
For Hayworth, this represents another decline in support. In April, he picked up 42% of the vote. That fell to 40% in May, 36% in June and 34% in July.

Unfortunately, I believe you're right. Unless the Republicans come out and start defining the difference between them and the RATs, November isn't going to be the "blood-bath" many think it will be. Sure, they'll pick up some seats but when you have some of the chief players who helped contribute to this economic mess that we're in (MeCain and Reid, for example) looking like they will win reelection handily, we will just have more of the same.
Trouble is, though, the GOP is being ran by a bunch of wusses who are too scared of their own shadows, who act like the girl who wants to be part of the popular crowd and will sell her soul to obtain it. The GOP wants the media to love them. Until we get people who will tell the media to take a long walk off a short pier and will have the stones to articulate the conservative message, we will keep getting people like MeCain, who will "cross the aisle" for the destruction of this country.
“Arizona (and the rest of the country) are getting what we richly deserve!”
Excuse me? I’ll be da*^ed if I deserve it. I didn’t vote for Obama. I spent weeks placing an average of four phone calls a day to the Senate until we shut down the phone systems and finally convinced the sell out politicians that they could not force amnesty for illegals on the American people.
John McCain is a piece of garbage. Barack Obama is a Muslim, anti-American POS. But don’t you ever tell me that I am responsible for them. How do you come up with that crap?
Regrettable, it appears the debates didn’t do Hayworth any good.
Yep. I don’t think it’s the people. It’s the crooks trying to manipulate or steal the election like Soros who supports McCain. McCain is a traitor.
We should be looking at the people trying to steal the election. McCain is hated and he is worthless except as a puppet to Soros. I can’t stand these people.
imho,
Arizonans who’d even think of putting McChurian back in
are as traitorously clueless as he is.
Arizona (and the rest of the country) are getting what we richly deserve!

I posted this in frustration, and should’ve worded this frustration better. I do not blame you, or the rest of conservative America, who’ve been fighting these RINOs.
I just do not understand the dumb fu**s in Arizona, and other areas around the nation who keep voting for McCain and other RINOS??
Again, my apologies for not measuring my comments more. Sometimes my emotions work a bit faster than my reasoning skills.
......the GOP is being ran by a bunch of wusses who are too scared of their own shadows, ......
You are absolutely correct.
Lamar Alexander is my senator and frequently the point man. He comes out, states the obvious and crawls back up his ivory tower. He spills no blood, creates no consternation, troubles no waters, rocks no boats or does a damn bit of good. His effort is proforma and a waste of both tome and effort
In order to win, Republicans have to “nationalize Obama” AND take out DC culture.
The GOP country club depends too much on DC insider life.
(BTW DC is carpeted with “private clubs” which claim republicans and democrats alike as members.)
“No one could be as hated as McCain is and have those numbers.”
McCain may be “hated” by many on Free Republic, but his constituents in Arizona are loyal. My relatives in Phoenix say McCain is still the choice of Arizonians.
Please direct me to one place that Sarah Palin uses the reason you so artfully came up with for her as her actual reason for supporting, endorsing and campaigning for McCain.
I didn't think so.
Supporting Palin is fine, but doing so without acknowledging that she is following her own agenda, that just might not always be the same as a conservative agenda, is to be blind to reality.
yeah- but i doubt his numbers are that high even among them
The Arizona Redistricting Commission was mandated by voter initiative in 2000. District 5's boundries were in place for 2002. Hayworth ran twice in the exact same district, winning by 20,000 and 30,000 votes before he got his butt bounced by 8,000 in 2006. He lost because 40,000 of his voters chose to stay home rather than vote for him. ASU was not added to the district.
“Is she the devil? No. Did she sell out conservatives who were counting on her? Yes.”
It’s hard for me to imagine any conservative not noticing that Palin had previously endorsed McCain for president. Anyone subsequently surprised that she might endorse him for senate as well just wasn’t paying any attention at all.
And he got his butt bounced in 2006 because he spoke out on illegal immigration, even going so far as to tell Bush to his face down in Yuma.
You lose all credibility when you childishly call anyone who doesn't agree with everything Palin does as "Palin-haters". You sound like an immature liberal and certainly do not help Palin.
Well, thanks for the ‘artfully’, I guess.
You could hardly expect Sarah to say, “well, I’m only supporting the old fool because he chose me for his VP candidate.”
Obviously, to anyone who considers the matter dispassionately, that is exactly the reason she is supporting him.
As for campaigning ... I don’t know but I expect there are many here on Free Republic who would have pounced on any instance of Sarah doing a lot of campaigning for him.
This horse has been beaten so much that CSI couldn’t get much DNA off of it.
JD is an imperfect candidate, and badly outspent. Looks like I’ll end up voting for a democrat this fall for the first time in 30 years...but it won’t change the outcome.
Something is very wrong with our system when loathsome people are returned to office again and again, and sometimes their kids after them.
