LONDON — WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange said Monday he believes there is evidence of war crimes in the thousands of pages of leaked U.S. military documents relating to the war in Afghanistan.

The remarks came after WikiLeaks, a whistle-blowing group, posted some 91,000 classified U.S. military records over the past six years about the war online, including unreported incidents of Afghan civilian killings and covert operations against Taliban figures.

The White House, Britain and Pakistan have all condemned the release of the documents, one of the largest unauthorized disclosures in military history.

We need to establish some sort of criteria for when we leave the realm of “free speech” and enter the realm of “treason”.

How did Wikileaks get this stuff?

Wanna bet that the vociferously antiwar Wikileaks cherry picked the documents.

Cui bono?

With an election coming up, I wouldn’t put it past the DNC to pull this stunt. They are known for burning down the house in order to keep the flood waters from destroying it.

That was my first thought. It’s one thing to have an anti-war group post this stuff. If they have it they are going to do it. But the bigger story is who gave this stuff to them. Who on the inside is the mole?

Given the White House silence, one can assume they are not bothered at all by this release.

Another pack of power-drunk media beasts playing around with people’s lives and flaunting their immunity to any standard of human decency. This is not about politics or war for them, it’s something to brag about between lines of coke at the next party.

With some exceptions, the internal culture of the media industrial complex is probably the most depraved large group of people in human history. Think about the media professionals you have known personally. How many of them were NOT drunks, drug addicts and perverts?

The media as presently constituted are not the free press of the Founding Fathers. They ARE the enemy, and no other enemy can be defeated unless the establishment media are defeated first.

If Jonathan Pollard got a life sentence (which was richly deserved) this leaker should get, bare minimum, the same sentence.

I’m gonna guess that one of the CIA folks that was killed a few months back was a double agent. I said it back then also.(about 7 agents were killed)

Isn’t that convenient these documents only pertain to activities during Bush’s term?

The documents end in December 2009!

Why do I think Barry O. and his idiot gang found a way to release this to that Commie?

According to the AP, Bradley Manning (the leaker) gave the material to Wikileaks which Wikileaks then forwarded to the NYT, the Guardian and Der Spiegel before they posted it online.

Manning is currently in federal custody and he has been confirmed bragging about the leak in several online communities.

His alleged motivation is "disillusionment" with the war effort. It is also rumored that another motivation is his dissatisfaction with DADT.

Notice this only covers the Bush administration’s activity in the war and the papers were leaked at about the time the Obama administration duplicity in the release of the Lockerbie murderor’s release became known. Just a coincidence, I’m sure.

“Given the White House silence, one can assume they are not bothered at all by this release.”

The one word comment I heard from the WH was “Irresposible”. Funny, that was the same word Hillary Clinton used in responce to North Korea sinking a South Korea ship.
Compare that to how they respond to Andrew Breitbart or FOX, who are on the enemies list.

“Americans and our partners at risk.” In a statement, he then took pains to point out that the documents describe a period from January 2004 to December 2009, mostly during the administration of President George W. Bush. And, Jones added, before President Obama announced a new strategy.

Pakistan’s Ambassador Husain Haqqani agreed, saying the documents “do not reflect the current on-ground realities,” in which his country and Washington are “jointly endeavoring to defeat al-Qaida and its Taliban allies.”

Amazing. This administration even got a disclaimer from Pakistan. Why would they make sure this administration is off the hook unless they were part of this leak?
