RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginia Sen. Jim Webb called for ending government-run diversity programs in a newspaper column Friday, saying they have disadvantaged struggling whites and hurt the cause of racial harmony. Webb wrote an op-ed column in Friday's Wall Street Journal that said a "plethora of government-enforced diversity policies have marginalized many white workers. The time has come to cease the false arguments and allow every American the benefit of a fair chance at the future."
Webb's press secretary, Jessica Smith, said Friday that the senator felt the column speaks for itself and that he would not comment further.

“America still owes a debt to its black citizens, but government programs to help all ‘people of color’ are unfair. They should end.”
So what does he want Americans to do to pay thier debt to black citizens? Sounds like he is talking out of both side of his . I am sorry but I do not owe anyone anything maybe Mr. Webb should pay his debt to black citizens since he feels he owes them something.

Whatever one thinks of Webb’s position here, it isn’t a new one. He’s held it at least since Born Fighting was published in 2004, and I believe for a while before that (although I don’t have my copy on hand to verify the date).
Interestingly enough, 2004 was also the year BO appeared (in a big way, i.e. being groomed for presidency) on the national stage.
Webb is trying to throw himself a life-preserver. Blue Dogs are dead dogs.
Must be an election coming up.
He's positioning himself for 2012, if Hillary decides not to run against Obama.
Webb has a warped sense of "fairness" in what he says and does. He says and writes one thing but the substance of his actions are to support the culture of death and Marxism. The goal of communism is for the government to own everything. And, as telegraphed by the Clinton Administration the government needs more "contributions" from the people. To be fair the government would like to take all of your earnings as taxes and return to you an allowance. Webb supports the Democrat agenda in spite of what he writes or says otherwise.
He ignores the rejection of the inexperienced and evil Elena Kagan the Pagan as a Supreme Court judge. His staff produces form letters asserting his superiority in ceding the sovereignty of our nation in the law of the sea treaty. He supports the murder of the unborn. Anyone of evil cannot be of God.
The very concept of diversity is self-destroying. Mixing divers peoples together homogenizes the whole mass and loses the cultural uniqueness that was supposed to be exalted.
It’s as backward as everything else the “Progressives” are pushing.
Don’t be mislead by this. He’s still saying we need to retain Affirmative Action. Just that it shouldn’t benefit those who are not African American.
I totally agree with you on this particular point.
This issue more than any other has made it clear that the “white guy” has no stake in this country, and every reason to suspect any minority or woman in a job of being a “token”.
I wonder if this applies to DADT too?
Jim ‘Born Fighting’ Webb owes his very election to this whole sick racial thing and a handful of Virginians who fell for the Washington Post’s six week long ‘macaca’ campaign. One half of 1% of my fellow voters here gave this poseur his margin of victory and Obama a critical vote in the socialization of our country. Words are important to conservatives as the building blocks of political philosophy...to Progressives they are used to construct a Webb of lies.

I was told straight out in the early 1980s by college financial aid people not to bother applying for a scholarship or grant. Their words: "You wont get it. You're white."
I told a bunch of "feminists" before the 2008 election that Obama was a socialist and/or a communist, but did anyone want to discuss that? Oh, no, I was told I was "racist" and that I benefited from "white privilege" and therefore "racist" unless I supported "people of colour".
