I think that’s exactly what we need. And I’ll do my part by voting for Moran in the Kansas Republican primary.

To think that many conservatives actually stood up for Lott when Democrats came after him... and this is how Lott repays them.

Looks like the Dems did everyone a favor when they inadvertently trashed Lott.

We don’t need ANY spineless Trent Lott disciples!
Anyone too cowardly to stand up for themselves, against bogus charges isn’t worth listening to.

a robust bloc of rabble-rousers
He prefers a bunch of good ole boys, back-patting, reaching across the aisle, going out for drinks together after giving the appearence of being the opposition, yada yada yada.
The country-club Republican set NEEDs to be replaced by a robust bloc of rabble-rousers.
Lott represents what is wrong with the GOP.

Right, Trent, Senate disfunction would be denying unanimous consents, thereby forcing senators to put their names to things. It would be eliminating proxy voting in committee. And these are just two examples that change the senate from being “a nice place to work, where everybody gets along and nobody’s name has to be put to any measure” into a legislative body where legislation is debated and passed or rejected.

Ruling class. No more needs to be said.

"As soon as they get here, we need to co-opt them."
That is just what does happen, and is why our claim of the US Government being as corrupt as any on the planet.
As some might recall Trent Lott was the paragon for this oligarchial elitism. Like the poster above says we need exactly the opposite. The roots of the Tea Party.

How did Trent Lott ever get to be Senate Majority leader? They picked one loser after another. This really is the RINO big government wing of the party.
I still remember Trent calling Jesse Jackson and Rev Al Sharpton and promising them he’d push racial preferences if they would support him staying Majority leader.

Trent Lott is saying what many(not all) in the GOP firmly believe:
The American people aren’t smart enough to make their own decisions and need an elitist like myself to govern them.
Too many, in leadership positions of the GOP no longer represent traditional republican values.
To: Islander7
Trent Lott, just another shining example of GOP fail.

Of course, Reagan was once a Democrat. That’s not the issue or standard here.
Lott is speaking a surprising amount of truth for Washington, for ‘co-opt’ is what they do and how it happens. ‘Morning Joe’ is exhibit a, but the co-opted are rife throughout the GOP.
