COOPER CITY, Fla. -- Three men posing as FBI agents took off when the owner of a Cooper City home they were trying to rob shot at them, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.
Three men wearing baseball hats and T-shirts with the letters FBI on the back pulled a sport utility vehicle into the driveway of the home shortly after 4 a.m. Monday, Miami TV station WPLG reported.
Two of the men got out of the SUV, while the third acted as a lookout, police said. The two men tried to open the home's front door with a crowbar, but that didn't work, so they tried to get in through a front window, the Sheriff's Office said.
Homeowner Malcolm Pena, 35, saw what was happening and fired his .40-caliber pistol through a window at the men, police said.
The two robbers jumped into the SUV and drove away, police said.
No arrests have yet been made.
Stories with perps in “Police” or “FBI” jackets actually happen every few weeks. People would be amazed how frequently these types of things occur.
As I’ve told my friend: that’s what the fourth amendment is for.
By requiring a warrant to be obtained AND presented it forms a protocol that honors the property & rights of the suspected/accused AS WELL AS providing protection for the Public Servant who is executing the warrant. It is the only way that I can think of that preserves the right of the citizen to defense AS WELL AS preserving the rights of the Public Servant.
I get robbed every year by the IRS, are they fake too?
These stories can act as a double-edged sword.
The story can either give one the idea of what could possibly happen and allow them to get a jump on any perps trying this sort of thing.....or.....get into ones head and get them to ask a question which takes another fraction of a second putting them at a greater disadvantage.
as a reminder certain hours for serving a warrant are usually on the warrant. A “nightime” warrant before 6 am or after 10 pm (depending on local)is harder to get a judge to sign off on, needs exigent circumstances...6am is usual ideal time of service..people are usually home but not awake yet..
Because a cop's life is worth more than the life of one of the "small people". /s
What are fools like this thinking? Busting into an occupied house with a crowbar? I’m thinking two rounds of 3” BB going off faster than they could even blink. They are very lucky to have picked a house without a shotgun at ready. Would have made a more interesting video, though.
I think the solution would be that no LEO is allowed to break into a house.
Then youll know. If theyre breaking into your house, theyre not police, FBI, etc.
That and it might give someone time to flush drugs down a toilet. According to our government masters, it is much better to put lives at risk than to lose a little bit of evidence.
Maybe they can talk to the head of ICE-—maybe he can help.
Yep. Those guys on the tape were absolute idiots and loosers...
“It’s more boring to have to do a stakeout and nab someone on the driveway, sidewalk or street.”
What would Hollywood do?
Hmmm! Has any proof that they were "fake" been verified?
(Just Asking...)
True! There's a reason they're known by some folks as the 'Federal Bureau of Incineration'...
Very real conundrum. Innocent until proven guilty I guess, is the way ahead. Assuming survival.
This is what we could call a Matrix Moment. I bet Malcolm Pena’s code name is Neo. I want to believe he is the One.
And your problem with this is?
it has happened before.
I want to have a porch trap like at the old cannibals house in
"The book of Eli" where it dumps miscreants in a deep pit.
But I won't be eating them
.....yet.
If they'd have been real FBI agents, they'd have had a flame-throwing tank.
