Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston Reveal Secret Engagement

Couple kept on-again relationship secret from Sarah Palin

Bristol Palin was worried about how she was going to tell her mother that she’s engaged to marry Levi Johnston, the father of her 18-month-old son. She solved the problem by telling a tabloid magazine. “We got engaged two weeks ago. It felt right, even though we don’t have the approval of our parents,” Palin told Us Weekly magazine in a bombshell story published Wednesday.

The magazine cover features a photo of a smiling Bristol and Levi with their son, Tripp. Inside, Bristol admits that she and Johnston had not told her parents, Sarah and Todd Palin, about the engagement. “It is intimidating and scary just to think about what her reaction is going to be. Hopefully she will jump on board,” Bristol told the magazine. “I want her to know Levi has grown up and that he is going to be there as a dad.” ‘Redemption and forgiveness’ In a statement to NBC News, the Palins said, “Bristol at 19 is now a young adult. We obviously want what’s best for our children. Bristol believes in redemption and forgiveness to a degree most of us struggle to put in practice in our daily lives.” No wedding date has been set, but Caroline Schaefer, Us Weekly’s executive editor, told TODAY’s Matt Lauer Wednesday morning that the reunited young couple would like to do it quickly — possibly in the next month. Until marriage, Schaefer said, the couple are living separately and practicing abstinence. Bristol Palin, who has moved out of her parents’ house, is a spokeswoman for an abstinence-only program.

Perhaps she did and that’s the problem. My dislike for Palin isn’t ideological. Her conservative credentials are fine, but that’s not enough. My problem with Palin is and has always been that she’s just not bright. She’s certainly not bright enough to lead the free world.

Levi is a central casting solution for the Carlo Rizzi character in this movie. (See the Godfather I character list if you don’t remember who that is and what Sonny does to him)

Ya know that’s exactly what some said of Ronald Reagan...he’s not bright enough to be the leader of the free world.

On the other hand, BHO is so brillant........

I’ll take Sarah any day!

My great-grandmother was a stay-at-home mom. My grandmother was 16 when she got married in October of 1945. My mom was born in Jan. of 1946. People make mistakes.
I’m sure that you have never ever in your entire life ever made a mistake or done anything you shouldn’t have, which I think is just awesome. Kinda makes me a bit worried though, because as far as I know the only perfect person was Jesus, so I guess I missed the Rapture.

Well, one things for sure, she is brighter than you. To even state Palin isn’t bright in the face of all the evidence to the contrary shows just how brainless you are.

Yeah, yeah, we know. Anyone who dares doubt the anointed one has a screw loose. Been hearing it from the Palin cultists for some time now. I see little difference between the cult of Obama and the nascent cult of Palin. We can live without either.

On another thread, you called Obama and Palin "Tweedledee and Tweedledum" and vowed not to even go to the polls when the two face each other in 2012. Well, Tweedledee must be the polar opposite of Tweedledum, because the coming Palin-Obama race will offer voters the clearest choice since Reagan ran against Mondale.

I don't know if this has been stated yet (haven't read the thread), but the possibility exists that someone is paying Levi Johnston...the timing is suspicious. What a way to wreck Sarah Palin's political career, etc.

Either that, or this low life has realized that his 15 minutes are up and that his pot of gold lies with Bristol Palin...

Saying that Sarah Palin isn't bright is like saying that the Tea Party movement is dominated by white supremacists--in other words, counterfactual.

The charge that Sarah Palin isn't bright is lame and thoroughly unconvincing. The Scozzafava/Schwarzenegger/Chafee faction of the GOP had better come up with something better than that if they want to stop her.

I know there will be some doubters for his motivation but none of us really know, This is between the couple and God

Some doubters? You forget you are among "perfect people" here, leading their sin free lives.

My prayer is for a successful relationship for all. I also think they are setting a good example about forgiveness and consequences.

I join you in your prayer.

One might also recall the predictions that Jimmy Carter, a self-proclaimed "nuclear engineer," would make a brilliant president. And then we experienced the brilliant presidency of a "Rhodes Scholar" not too long ago.

Carter’s failure is no reason to invite the Wasilla hillbillys and their trailer park drama into the Whitehouse. Sorry, not having any of it.

It's obvious that you prefer some country club elitist. Indeed, some of the GOP's big winners in presidential campaigns have come from the country club set--Wendell Willkie, Thomas Dewey, and Nelson Rockefeller come to mind.

Oh absolutely not. The last thing we need on a presidential ticket is someone who's educated and successful. Membership in a country club is a fantastic barometer. If you can afford the membership you're obviously too successful for politics. What we need instead is someone who's been successful solely on the basis of her celebrity with it's subsequent book deals and speaking engagements.

There you go, everything you wanted to hear in a one paragraph. You're welcome.
