Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston Reveal Secret Engagement

Couple kept on-again relationship secret from Sarah Palin

Bristol Palin was worried about how she was going to tell her mother that she’s engaged to marry Levi Johnston, the father of her 18-month-old son. She solved the problem by telling a tabloid magazine. “We got engaged two weeks ago. It felt right, even though we don’t have the approval of our parents,” Palin told Us Weekly magazine in a bombshell story published Wednesday.

The magazine cover features a photo of a smiling Bristol and Levi with their son, Tripp. Inside, Bristol admits that she and Johnston had not told her parents, Sarah and Todd Palin, about the engagement. “It is intimidating and scary just to think about what her reaction is going to be. Hopefully she will jump on board,” Bristol told the magazine. “I want her to know Levi has grown up and that he is going to be there as a dad.” ‘Redemption and forgiveness’ In a statement to NBC News, the Palins said, “Bristol at 19 is now a young adult. We obviously want what’s best for our children. Bristol believes in redemption and forgiveness to a degree most of us struggle to put in practice in our daily lives.” No wedding date has been set, but Caroline Schaefer, Us Weekly’s executive editor, told TODAY’s Matt Lauer Wednesday morning that the reunited young couple would like to do it quickly — possibly in the next month. Until marriage, Schaefer said, the couple are living separately and practicing abstinence. Bristol Palin, who has moved out of her parents’ house, is a spokeswoman for an abstinence-only program.

Bush had a decent family, although his children did get into a few dicey situations.

Maybe the money ran out and he wants to jump on the Palin gravy train?

15 minutes of fame is extremely addicting. There are millions of leftist women that would sleep with Levi for the single purpose of breaking them up again, but only if there's something there to break up.

Could be a sign Palin will be President. Republican Presidents tend to be plagued with terrible acting children.

I think the dungarees were named after a person. Levi is an actual name.

The problem is not that he has serious character flaws, the problem is that she also has serious character flaws.

He’s likely only doing this to get more information on Sarah for his liberal press buddies. They are now seeing Sarah as a serious presidential contender.

“”Why would anyone name their kid after dungarees-?! “”

The name Levi goes back to biblical times.

Kids with good values and character do NOT get pregnant!

Yea they do, happens all the time. Mistakes and misjudgments happen. Humans aren't perfect, especially teenagers. It isn't one making a mistake that is a reflection of their values or character, it is how they handle that mistake. Good character and values means they keep the baby and raise it to be the best person they can be. Bad character and values means they abort the child or abandon their responsibility to raise it.

I can't tell you how many people I know who had children out of wedlock who ended up being great examples of parents and values.

Using blanket moral judgments against a person because of a mistake of youth are games the left plays. They played it with Bush re his drunk driving issue, they played it with Reagan regarding his divorce, they played it with Fred Thompson regarding having a child out of wedlock. Heck, they even tried it with Palin twisting Track's premature birth to try to say he was conceived out of wedlock.

Kids who are sinless to not get pregnant.

That pretty much covers it. Now, where is this sinnless teenager?

“The problem is not that he has serious character flaws, the problem is that she also has serious character flaws.”

It never ceases to amaze me the excuses and rationalizing away they give Sarah Palin. In the next breath, they'll butcher Obama, who is much worse but has similar character flaws. Then you'll get the comment that "no one is perfect". That is a given however some are better examples than others. We need those BETTER EXAMPLES when our culture is falling apart.

It’s a plus for Sarah...the family will likely all be together on stage at the convention in 2012 as a “see we worked out our problems”.

“Apparently we need someone sinless and perfect like you.”

LOL!

Next you'll claim you're a “Christian”, right?

If you were a genuine Christian, you would not be making such an idiotic statement. For a Christian, the premise is that we all ALL, including the Pope with sin.

WOW! Using YOUR logic, that MUST mean that we ALL have a LICENSE to SIN and still be haughty about it, right? Like YOU? No. We are to be humble but recognize sin and hypocrisy for what it is and avoid it - not crow about it as YOU are doing to RATIONALIZE it away.

What we DO NEED are strong leaders that lead a moral life. A leader that takes FAMILY seriously. A leader that SHOWS this in their OWN FAMILY.

Titus 1:4-9

[4] To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

[5] For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

[6] If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

[7] For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

[8] But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;

[9] Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

Hmm that is how Christ wants a leader in a church to measure up. Yes, I know Sarah isn't itching to be a Christian leader of any sort but I dare ask you, don't you want the SAME attributes in a SECULAR leader? I do!

I don't find Sarah Palin having the proper attributes as a leader. Nor is her family serve as a proper example to others. We already have enough dysfunctional families and “single moms”. Heck, Sarah Palin was almost a “single mom” but Tod and her eloped to camouflage the pregnancy. Yes, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Perhaps for you, Sarah Palin is the example of what is right that YOU look up to. You may LOWER your standards and be as arrogant and haughty as you wish, but do NOT even try to impose your lowly standards on me.

At this point in the Bristol Levi saga, I doubt that either of them could do much better. They seem matched pretty well if what little I have read about their relationship is to be believed. They have a child together and it will be raised by somebody, might as well be the parents. These are two young adults that would do well to move away from both families and live on their own with all that it entails. No financial support, no well meaning advice, no cushion for mistakes. Take their lumps and responsibilities and mature. No need to judge the Palins as somehow being derelict parents, they seem to me to be as normal as most American families are. We have the good, the difficult, the heart breaking, the functional and dysfunctional. I believe that most parents do the best they know and the results are never predictable. I do agree with those who say that Bristol, and Levi too, should just SHUT UP about their domestic affairs. Especially if they are serious about turning their lives around.
