Mike Huckabee: 'I was tea party' before it existed
CHARLOTTE OBSERVER ^ | 06 JULY 2010 | TIM FUNK

Posted on 07/06/2010 5:52:29 PM PDT by Extremely Extreme Extremist

Before speaking to a July 4 gathering at First Baptist Church, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee talked with the Observer.

He covered everything from the tea party movement to President Obama's handling of the BP oil spill to why a President Huckabee would have let the banks and General Motors fail and would oppose extending unemployment benefits yet again.

On some Republicans' call for the resignation of national GOP chairman Michael Steele : "I think that he's done more right things than he's done things wrong. Unfortunately, the wrong things that he's done have been very public in terms of comments. But that doesn't mean he's not qualified to lead the RNC. He's a visionary guy that has real passion. In many ways, he gets a little too much attention for making a gaffe here or there. But, heck, I've made them ... I'm not at a point where I'm ready to call for his head."

Yeah, I know, but there is a lot of politics involved with the so called "I told you so's". I don't want to defend him as I would never vote for him for president, but the parole thing made a great political issue and messed up his campaign, and there are a lot of Clinton Democrats who cheered that on like a soccer game.

I never really saw it that way, but as to the other stuff, he is no fiscal conservative as I am, and he has a huge ego, (if you have not noticed)

He is in fact guided by his heart and not his head, and that's not what we need. He would make a good health and welfare cabinet member however and he's a good manager.

"He is the main reason I do not watch Fox on the weekends anymore."

I watched his show a couple of times. It seemed like a male version of Oprah.

>>”I read the article. He sure is full of himself.”<<

He sure is! Last I heard he was the front-runner for the GOP in 2012. If so, we’re screwed, really really screwed.

Guess I’ll just write in Bolton/Palin again.

Man, I can’t stand Huckster. The male Oprah. Thankfully, he doesn’t have the influence O has, lord knows we don’t need two of her.

Last time I looked, the Tea Party was against Comprehensive Immigration Reform, aka Amnesty.

Mike Huckabee has nothing in common with the Tea Party. There's nothing worse than a Preacher who doesn't tell the truth.

Agree. I just vowed to myself to point out his history every time he makes a noise about running. I do the same for Mitch Daniels selling off the Indiana Toll Road (something that I have a HUGE problem with - as with our Texas governor trying the same stunt with our freeways).

The media wants that, not the base. The media sees him as easy money for a loss to any democrat. They are right.

Ask anyone who remembers Huck’a record as Arkansas governor how “tea party” he was then -— the fraud was a big government social conservative.

Run that scam he tried to pull, registering for *wedding gifts* for his re-marriage ceremony in order to get around the prohibition against the sitting governor accepting them by the members of tea parties all over this country, let's see how they will all clamor that Huckabee was really just "one of them" then.

Where are the lies, Randy? Look, I don’t hate the guy, but his mind is mushy. His sucking up to Michelle Obama makes me vomit, frankly. Bob

Yeah, all Mike could have sold is a few chicken farms....LOL

He is a Republican in the same boat as Bloomberg in many of his ways. He is socially conservative but fiscally liberal and he would do the food police, anti-smoking, taxes and the rest just like Bloomie.

Relax. It's what the MSM and Huckabee want us to believe...

We haven't really seen the field of horses in this race yet. The Huckster won't even finish in the money. Bet on it!

For me, it’s the Huckster and Geraldo. Any time either one comes onto the screen, I switch to CNN. Same with Gingrich, Romney, and McCain.
