Amanda Marcotte: The Pleasure of Sadism Is the Force Behind Conservatism
David Horowitz's NewsReal Blog ^ | Jenn Q. Public

Posted on 07/06/2010 5:23:48 AM PDT by Michael van der Galien

Is there any limit to the cruelty of the American conservative? These vicious sadists take great delight in harming people and reveling in their suffering, or so says Amanda Marcotte, noted expert on wha? huh? look over there!

The pleasure of sadism as [sic] always been a driving force behind movement conservatism. They’ve always taken a great deal of pleasure in attacking people’s livelihoods for the hell of it, as I know all too well. They’re [sic] always enjoyed sending a message that those who comfort the afflicted and afflict the powerful should expect pain and even ruin.

All that said, I think there’s a reason to think that sadism for its own sake is on the rise within conservative ranks.

Amanda Marcotte is the editor of the blog Pandagon and author of two books on feminism and progressive politics. Her first book was so “progressive” it had to be reprinted after outraged readers called for a boycott over racially offensive illustrations.

Let’s take a look at how Amanda defines “mindless sadism and cruelty.”

Sadistic and cruel: Conservative bloggers and journalists quoting her writing.

These mindless sadists published examples of Amanda’s religious bigotry, forcing her to resign from her cushy gig as a blogger for John Edwards’ presidential campaign. (Being quoted verbatim is so mean and unfair!)

“...completely disavow any governmental responsibility for the poor and needy, all taxes are theft, as well as the shoot the child for a pack of gum crowd.”

Well, that might be because you believe the mischaracterizations by the leftist media!
“Care” for the poor and needy should be ONLY for the poor and needy, and NOT encourage laziness.
As for the tax issue, the government does NOT need MORE of our money, they need to spend what they have more responsibly AND ONLY FOR THOSE FUNCTIONS WHICH ARE THE PERVIEW OF THE GOVERNMENT AS ENVISIONED BY THE CONSTITUTION.
As for “the pack of gum” comment, who knows what you’re referring to?????

5-1 gets you she has a special backroom in her house where she has male friends visit and she makes them call her "Mistress Mandy"...

Are you agreeing with Marcotte? While it is very true that there is a significant number of “compassionate conservatives” here, it’s ridiculous to call them sadists.

This is too stupid to answer, anyway I’m too busy pulling the wings off butterflies.

Seeking to destroy others’ livelihood...

hmmm... a conservative drive? weird that anyone’s brain can contort itself in this manner.

Amanda Marcotte must have been abused as a child. She should seek professional help rather than trying to self-treat through publishing. Freud would have a field day with her obvious projection.

I'm reveling in Amanda's 6th grade writing skills.

You give her too much credit.

She looks like younger version of the mad professor who shot and killed her brother, and then her colleagues for refusing to giver her tenure. Comparison photos?

Maybe rather than sadism it is the lack of masochism. I don’t like being tied to a post and made to scream “Tax me harder, Commissioner Shulman. Audit me like you mean it!” every April 15 (and June 15, and September 15 and January 15).

I’m sorry for not making it clearer that I am not agreeing with Miss Marcotte, but was commenting on other points made in the thread. As you imply, “compassionate conservatism” often does not separate itself from Nanny-Statism, and so anti-sadism doesn’t always mean true conservatism...and many who claim to be conservative are not.

Asking people to get a job to support themselves and not live on government handouts is sadism?
Uh-huh!
I on the other hand believe that raising taxes on a shrinking working population in order to support a growing class of freeloaders is even more sadistic.

My favourite part of Marcotte's career was when she published a book on feminism full of pictures of black men in masks with spears being beaten by a white woman. She was more hated than bush for a while.

That would be the completely disavow any governmental responsibility for the poor and needy,

Charity to the poor and needy is a biblical moral obligation. Charity extracted at gunpoint by the IRS is not really charity.

Amanda Marcotte appears to be a bitter and self-centered person who has not forgiven the male half of the population for not kneeling down and worshiping her in her high school and college days.

Remember when she wandered off into the Duke Lacrosse Frame? We cut her liver out and fed it to her.

No, I don’t.

Let’s have some juicy examples please !

I do remember. She was as crazy as Nancy Grace and Wendy Murphy, only not as well known.
