Michelle Obama unveiled the newly-expanded President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition to D.C. school children last week. For years the Council (formerly known merely as the President’s Council on Fitness and Sports) busied itself with pushing Americans to get outside and run around. But as with so many government initiatives under the Obama administration, its goals have expanded. The council now wants to influence your diet and while not a member, Michelle Obama will be working closely with the group to help guide its initiatives.

Somehow a drug user, smoker, and unhealthy eater telling others to not use drugs, smoke, or overeat just ain’t gonna fly. These people make me sick. I don’t do any of the above unhealthy things and haven’t for 58 years. I don’t need to be lectured by those know-it-alls. Hey Michelle, why not take up a more benign cause, such as Lady Bird’s highway beautification or the introduction of more garden clubs throughout the USA.
Lets not be too hypocritical. If Laura had had such a rear, I am quite sure that there would be many male FReepers with restrining orders against them, plus some in jail for trying to break into the White House bedroom.
A “more benign cause” doesn’t directly control other people’s behavior.

So what are you going to do? Steal food from your neighbor? Shoot and eat your neighbor? It takes a fed community to even fight a revolution.
Read up on the Ukrainian famine where they systematically starved millions.
It doesn’t matter how many bullets you have at that point. Unless you stocked up on a year’s supply of food (or more), you can’t get food. No guns are going to help you when everyone else has gleaned the squirrels from your neighborhood. They could have had hundreds of guns. If they couldn’t move to another country (which they couldn’t), they were starved to death because the food supply was stolen from them and there was nothing to be had.
