Title says it all.

The majority Justices do not support all parts of the Alito opinion, but all five agree that the 2d Amendment applies to state and local government.

Sounds like a muddled opinion.

Alito, in the part of the opinion joined by three Justices, concludes that the 2d Amendment is incorporated through the Due Process Clause.

This one’s complicated. Some of the justices say it’s under due process, some say it’s under P&I.
As expected, 4 justices seem to think we have no right to keep and bear arms.

Thomas thinks the Amendment is incorporated, but not under Due Process. He appears to base incorporation on Privileges or Immunities.

From LIVE blog....not totally good news.
Erin: The opinion leaves the fate of the Chicago gun ordinance in the hands of the 7th Circuit on remand.

I’m happy about the decision, but find it truly frightening that 4/9 SCOTUS justices think the 2nd amendment is optional. Our constitutional rights in this country literally hang by a thread, and Obama is holding the thread.....
