This will only screw up the banks even more that dod and frank have done already. They are taking away any incentive to keep cash at the bank while beeing feed out of any interest we might earn.

Hehehe. I love the iceberg analogy. It is going to sink this country unless we can elect enough Republicans to change course and miss the iceberg.

When buying and selling are controlled by legislation, the first things to be bought and sold are legislators.

True Story : I tended bar for a casino in AC back in the spring of 2005 .There was this old guy who would always come in and sit at one of our tables a few feet from the bar , always the same table too .He would always watch the stock channel on our TV and never order a drink or anything . This went on for about 3 or 4 weeks . Then one day he walked up to the bar and ask for a glass of water . I ask him if he traded stocks , and he said no . I ask him if he owned alot of stocks . He said he does , but just a few small holdings and that he was going to sell those holdings soon . Also , he said that he was investing in gold and will continue in the future . I ask him why is he positioning himself in investing in gold . Then he went off . I clearly remember what he said . He said : Listen , your still a young man . I’m retired from the biggest securities firm in Manhattan , which i won’t name . worked there for 40 years and listen what i’m telling you since your still a young man .Buy gold . buy as much as you can afford . Buy coins , you want physical gold . -Now he has my curiosity because of his body language and the tone of his voice- . I ask him why ? ... He said : The market and the economy is going to collapse in 2 or 3 years , mark my words . This real estate boom that you see right now is a fraud and will collapse . And the dollar will drop and be worthless , that’s why you need to buy gold .Do you have children ? ( yes ) invest in gold for your kids . Wall street is a fraud , I worked in it all my life and it’s all a fraud . Their stealing . You be able in a few years to go out and buy any home you want with those gold coins . It aint going to be pretty , so start buying now . ( which i didn’t ). - so this guy pretty much kept repeating the same thing over and over - Anyway , the sad thing is , I should of listen to that old guy . True story .

according to one article:

DODD: ‘No one will know until this is actually in place how it works’...

So he is pulling a page from Pelosi, we have to pass the bill to know what is in it?

BOY AM I GLAD WE HAVE THE MOST TRANSPARENT CONGRESS IN HISTORY OR WE COULD BE IN REAL TROUBLE!

I don’t want the government deciding if the loan I request is OK. Banks should be doing that not the government. If I don’t have the means to repay a loan I shouldn’t get one.

"I don’t want the government deciding if the loan I request is OK. Banks should be doing that not the government.,"

Exactly. The free market is a good judge of who will repay what. I had some run-ins who blamed the whole housing boo-bust on free markets. I said, are you serious? Banks were forced and enticed to make risky loans they would have never have made on their own. Forced by the gubmint. CRA with community activists (like Obama) threatening banks with racial lawsuits and loss of charters if they didn't make the loans.
