Same old same old from Obama and the progressive liberal scum.

Same old same old from some of the same clowns on FR.

I disliked McCrystal from the start ... In the Rolling Stone interview, he admitted to voting for Obama during the election. Problem #1.

McCrystal was hand picked by Obama as his man in Afghanistan. Problem #2.

McCrystal gave an interview to Rolling Stone? WTF ... stupid stupid stupid ... Problem #3

I for one am glad Petraeus is being given command. He developed modern day COIN and snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in Iraq ... Bush didn’t save the country, Petraeus and his staff and the US Armed forces did.

For the clueless Freepers: Overseeing Centcom is not the same as running/managing the war in Afghanistan ... Petraeus was offered command ... he was not demoted ... He will be (from my understanding) being running the war in Afghanistan just as he ran the war in Iraq during the surge ...

Any person not supporting Petraeus in Afghanistan is a waste of oxygen ... this includes all the stupid liberal progressive scum, and some of the clowns pretending to conservatives posting here on FR.

I hate Obama and wish him failure ... I love our troops and America and wish success in Afghanistan. The Taliban and AQ must be defeated at all costs.

Petraeus is a political general.

He obviously made a deal.....Chairman of the Joint Chief’s or NSA advisor....in exchange for his “support” of “o”.

If he wasn’t political, he would have resigned also, in order to send a very strong message to “o”, and then run for president.

Petraeus is finally in the driver’s seat....

I just hope that he uses that driver’s seat to demand what he needs - and tell Obama where to go if he even thinks of giving him less than what he needs. If he’s really worthy of the respect the rank-and-file have for him, this will be his biggest test.

LOL! this comment from TDB. -
“I am sure doubling up with General Petraeus is not the outcome Rolling Stone publishers and editors had envisaged when they went to press.”

Just remember who dressed him down. I have absolutely no respect for Obama, so I am inclined to disparage the “messenger”, not the message.

...he has handed out the key to his own destruction: ridicule. Obama cannot handle ridicule. Crises don't deserve his attention, but ridicule has his instant focus.

I agree, Obama seems to not handle ridicule well. Guess what? That's part of the job. It would actually have been better if Obama had accepted McChrystal's apology and moved on. We are in a war - ego and hurt feelings have NO place. This move is short sighted, unless of course, someone else manipulated this situation to get McChrystal out of the way.

But to have done that, he would have to be someone other than the weakling, sissy, self-worshipping Lighter-Messiah in-his-own-mind incompetent who needed to be dragged through a whole lot of doors left propped open for him to get anywhere. Has he been a success at anything we know about???

George Bush, who is not a hero of mine, never rose to the bait of ridicule. Sarah Palin is a master of turning ridicule aside against her critics. But then, they're adults.

“MacArthur, McClellan, McChrystal... I’m detecting a pattern.” Yes. Gasp. Americans are prejudiced against Scotts-Irish generals.

You could add McKinley (and possibly Garfield) to that list too.

well you may be right. Just got this from WSJ article:

“Obama and Petraeus then met privately for 40 minutes. The president asked him to step down as head of the Central Command, which is based in Florida, and take over day-to-day control of the Afghan war.

The president’s advisers said that Petraeus agreed to do so, but that it was clear to Obama that it came “at some great personal sacrifice.” Asked to describe it, one senior administration official said: “Tampa to Kabul.”

(It will be interesting who takes over CENTCOM...)

Col. Jessup is Hollywood’s stereotype of Republican military officers. Most of those officers are not like Jessup.

Yes. Look what happened to McKinley! First Scotts-Irish President, and what happens to him? Shot to death by a crazed job applicant! We’re through the looking glass now, people. No wonder McCain wasn’t elected President. There couldn’t possibly be any other explanation. He’s Scotts-Irish. That’s why. Stick a Mc or a Mac in front of your name, and your screwed for life.
