Does The Gulf Spill Mean The U.S. Is Headed For Gas Lines, Higher Food Prices And A Broken Economy?

As the Gulf of Mexico oil spill crisis enters a third month, the economic impact of this environmental nightmare is starting to become clearer. The truth is that the "oil volcano" spewing massive amounts of oil into the Gulf has absolutely decimated the seafood, tourism and real estate industries along the Gulf coast. Not only that, but energy industry insiders are now warning that the chilling effect that this crisis will have on offshore drilling could precipitate a new 1970s-style energy crisis.
Considering the fact that the U.S. economy was already on incredibly shaky ground even before the oil leak, the last thing we needed was a disaster of this magnitude. But it has happened, and the reality is that the long-term effects of this crisis are potentially going to reverberate for decades.
The American people certainly have a negative view on the impact that this oil spill will have on the economy. According to a new poll, about eight out of every 10 Americans expect the oil spill to damage the U.S. economy and drive up the cost of gas and food.
But is a new 1970s-style energy crisis really a possibility?
Could we actually soon be headed for blackouts and gas lines?

Obama is doing his best to make that dream of his come true.
“Does The Gulf Spill Mean The U.S. Is Headed For Gas Lines, Higher Food Prices And A Broken Economy?”
Nope, Obama’s policies will ensure that.
The disaster in the Gulf (not the explosion, but the continured release with blocked attempts at skimming and buffering) is a deliberate act by this Administration just as Jamie Gorelick got her 30million pieces of silver and Barney Frank got his Fannie rent boy toy to “look the other way”. The banking collapse was a key to the Democrats’ 2008 strategy and gave them the “crisis” needed to loot the national budget and pay out to supportive interests.
Can you feel it?
A 1970s-style energy crisis is a dream come true for the lefties.
Anything that creates a ‘crisis’ is just a reason for a government excuse to seize control of yet another American industry to ‘big to fail’.
The left are eyeballing the energy and food industries as I type.
ok who leaked Obamie’s Plans? hhhmm???
Yes, and this will happen just weeks after the Republican sweep in November. The press and the RAT’s will blame the newly elected Pubs and Bush, and the useless idiots that make up 60% of the electorate will believe them, leading to an Obama landslide in 2012.
if the dear leader, dictator 0bama has anything to say about it the answer is yes.
This administration won't be happy until Americans are living in mud huts so it can feel at 'home'. All those frame buildings will be burned for fuel...
Gas lines were the product of another failed 'visionary' Democrat in the White House.
In the meantime, the arbitrary establishment of the "Carbon Credit" as a means ofexchange will siphon trillions more dollars out of the pockets of Americans and into the coffers of Soros, Maurice Strong, Algore, and others, as the looting of America continues.
If nothing else, this leak has shown just how much oil potential there is in the gulf.
We never needed a drop from the ‘other’ gulf, but after WW II elitists decided to only have wars in ‘other’ lands with no determined outcome, so ‘they’ had to have $ to buy weapons.
No, we were heading there anyway.
Oil Spill? No. Obama means The U.S. Is Headed For Gas Lines, Higher Food Prices And A Broken Economy!

This would start with protecting our borders and putting a bullet between the eyes of Hugo Chavez which, I am afraid, we are eventually going to have to do anyway at great cost in lives and treasure.
